michjbthemh
Thank you for the update. I appreciate them. I was wondering if you could clarify something for me. I am new to this forum and to the car ordering process as this is the first time I have ever ordered a car. Could you please give me an idea how scheduling is done. Is it done by region, size of dealership etc I live in NH and I ordered my Mustang GT Premium on April 12th and my order is still not scheduled. I do not quite understand the process. For example, if my car were going to be scheduled for the build week of 07/30/2018, would I have my VIN number already or would I get my VIN once it were scheduled for that week? I hope this makes sense and I appreciate your patience and help. I am just very anxious and excited to finally get the car of my dreams!!
akirby
Each week Ford gives allocation to the dealers based on their previous sales history. Within that allocation, each dealer has a list of vehicles on order and each one has a priority. Retail (sold) orders are supposed to be 10-19 priority and dealer stock 20+. Ford fills the orders starting with lowest priority first (for orders with the same priority it goes by oldest order date first). If yours hasn't been scheduled then it's either on a material hold (waiting for parts to be available) or the dealer hasn't gotten enough allocation or there are other Retail orders ahead of yours. Once it's been scheduled I think the VIN is available and that means there are no material holds and it's just a matter of waiting in line for the factory to build it.

That cleared things up for me. Is there any way to find out how many allocations a particular dealership has?
akirby
Thank you. That cleared things up for me. Is there any way to find out how many allocations a particular dealership has? No. It's a formula that Ford uses but the best indication is how many they have in their inventory. If they stock a lot then they should get decent allocation and you shouldn't have any problems.

They probably have about 800 or more vehicles and they just built a brand new dealership and it is now open so they may have more cars than that. akirby
Then allocation won’t be an issue.

I chatted with Ford and the date they said was in the system was 8/20. Would you happen to know if that would be the projected build date? How does the scheduling you posted on June 26 relate to that date? Thanks for your understanding if these are dumb questions... If it's the build date you can expect it to arrive at the dealership 2 weeks after production. If the order is scheduled your Dealer can provide you with the VIN number, etc. That's a good question. The guy at Ford gave me that date but said he didn't know if it is a build date. I was going under the assumption it was, however the dealer seems to think it is the delivery date. I was just hoping someone might know what date would show in the system that chat/call center folks would have access to. Its not the end of the world either way, but I just need to plan for removing items from my current truck prior to delivery. Thanks again for the info!
