Ford Total Dominance at Michigan

Kurt Busch won the pole and seven of the top ten qualifying positions went to Fords.

Blaney won stage 1.

Harvick won stage 2.

SHR drivers Bowyer, Harvick and Kurt Busch finished 1-2-3 in the rain shortened race.

Seven of the top ten finishers were Fords.

Menard finished 5th for the Wood Brothers and Team Penske finished 6-7-8.

Fords led all but 12 laps.

Toyotas didn't lead a single lap.

This kind of domination is totally unacceptable. Anybody care to guess how long before NASCAR mandates a GM spec engine?

GM spec engines are being considered like in NHRA P/S or Camaro body's only.

Kevin Harvick was extremely nice to allow Clint the lead. Great to see Kurt pass his evil brother for third place. (Brad and Joey are playing catchup in every race....Penske is not dominant like in the past seasons)

They already have spec GM LS based engines in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series built by Ilmor.

Yes and in ARCA also. The least the Ford teams could do is paint them Ford Corporate Blue LOL. Can't believe Ford is alright with this. So sad! Henry must be turning over in his grave.

If that photo is of an actual NASCAR truck series spec engine it appears as though it uses a crank trigger ignition with individual coils meaning no distributor. That in itself would seem to give it a reliability and maintenance advantage over an OEM engine and one more reason along with performance advantages to run it. The rules are definitely in it's favor.

To the Busch Baby's credit he did try to fight running the GM based engines in his Yota trucks but eventually caved and asked to be let out of his TRD engine contract.

NASCAR has been using EFI in Cup and Xfinity since 2011. Trucks only made the switch this year with the spec engine.

Sounds like the latest rumor is for all tracks other than short tracks (Bristol, Martinsville, Richmond...) to run restrictor plates and whatever else was in the "rule package" for the last All Star race. IMO that just means speedway racing will all be nothing but crash fests with the cars running in huge packs waiting for somebody to screw up and cause "the big one", just like Daytona and Talladega. That's just wreckin', not racin'. Perfect fix to get all the idiots who want to see more carnage to buy tickets and watch that crap on TV. Sounds like 1988 when NASCAR decided it was time to rein in the Elliots in the name of "safety". Only difference is now it's SHR. Funny how more wrecks equals "safer" and "better competition". Also interesting how big changes in NASCAR usually happen only when Fords start stinking up the show and/or GM can't compete.
