Mustang EcoBoost be renamed to Mustang ST

Now, I actually like that idea...Mustang ST ties in with the rest of the line of ST labeled performance vehicles since the rest of the ST line also relies on Ecoboost engines for more powerful performance and Mustang GT is a cut above all the rest with its legendary and iconic 5.0L V8.

IMHO, the EcoBoost with the Hi-Po and Handling package could earn the ST badge. That is a solid combination!

The only issue IMO is a Mustang with the ST moniker would be sharing the name with the Edge (as an example), and no one would accuse the Edge of having "earned" the ST badge.

That doesn't seen to be hurting them when it comes to sales...and I'm sure the next gen will be "better"

The "ST" badge isn't all that prestigious so I'm not sure what is there to "earn".  It's just the first level of tuning on a vehicle.  On the SUVs they replaced the old Sport model with the ST designation and it's just the first level of tuning, nothing more.   There is no "standard".

That said, I don't think ST works on Mustang because it already has other performance models and just doesn't fit the typical use of the ST name.

Instead of ST (which could be confused with SVT), maybe they could just change it to the Mustang Rally.
