thank god for "what we have" or we would be on the chopping block too. seems as if we are getting another product as well....maybe two. hmmm, maybe those in michigan should be lucky for "what they have" and not worry about kentuckians with tobacco laced minds

What products are you hearing and when???

I am hearing KTP is supposed to be getting that Econoline...I don't know what you call it? The chopped off version that sits on the superduty frame...like they make ambulances out of?

JUST A RUMOR THOUGH!

I have heard something about an F-150 diesel too....but again....just a rumor...I take all this with a grain of salt, won't believe anything until I see 'em rolling off the end of the line.

These are all just things I have heard people spouting in the break room.

Doesn't really matter to me, I am weighing taking the money and running!

I think anyone at KTP with less than 10 should take the buyout because if "C" Crew goes, your gone. If they bring the 150 or van, those people can come and bring seniority. I would take the educational buyout myself if I didn't have so many year already. Good Luck to ya

I've only got 7 years in so I'm staying and waiting it out, maybe I'll be laid and maybe I won't, it's like a lottery at this point, I've been hearing that C crew was gone since the day I started in 1999, If enough people take the buyout maybe I'll keep my job. As for getting the Van or 150 and others following the job, that will depend on what we get, the 150 is only the one with the diesel, this would be a new product (as they've never made it with a diesel, so would they get to follow?? and the Van, I thought it was only 1 type of Van not all the vans, so would they even want to follow. If the 2008 Truck is a great as they say, we might be selling so many they will have to keep 3 shifts. Then you hear that NO Ford plant will be here in Kentucky by 2009 because of Kentucky's Health Care Cost or the Star Program in Louisville, so transfers might not be an issue at all. There's alot of IF's at KTP so I've decided to gamble and take my chances, if I were in my 20's with less than 10 then I would most likely take the buyout or the educational options, but I'm not so I will gamble and see how long it gets me.

You are an idiot. Prove to us all that those with less than 10 years will be laid-off. It is people like you, who predict doom and gloom, that make us all look bad at KTP. If you know for a fact that there is a certain date that would be effected if we were to lay off a shift, then post it. Otherwise, look but don’t touch. All you are doing is adding to the problem.

You are probably one of those who predicted that C Crew was going to be gone from the day it started. Not much foresight there.

Idiot.

There wouldn't be much to worry about as far as people following the cutaway vans down to Kentucky, since there are only about 6 per shift that actually build them. Not to worry though, this is just more BON bullshit. There are major retooling projects approved and getting underway for these, so I'm afraid they will not in fact be coming.

can you elaborate on what you've been hearing slapshot? Ive been hearing some positive things too....just trying to compare notes.

Work will begin around Thanksgiving weekend to automate the cutaway buck, which is bad news for the guys that build them, but good news for the plant. They have tried to automate this unsuccessfully in the past but this time they say it's a go. This would not be happening if they had intentions of moving this production. The cutaways will stay with their big van Daddy!

good deal!!.....ive heard (indirectly) from Jerry D. that this place will be around for awhile. Also heard from a maintenance guy that they are starting to bid out the job of rebuilding our bodyshop. Im not sure how true that is but if it is in fact true thats some very good news for us.
