Not necessarily. I think GM has done a pretty good job differentiating the two brands. GMC definitely appeals more to buyers looking for something more rugged looking while Buick has more of a premium feel. The Denali subbrand kind of bridges the two sides for someone looking for rugged AND premium. The trick is balance... GM did a smart thing to downsize the Acadia to midsize to avoid cannibalizing Enclave. The Envision experiment was more of an exercise to appease its Chinese partners who really wanted to GM to Buicks from China. With GM now planning to build the next generation Envision in North America, it will be interesting to see how they juggle that with Terrain Denali.
