And Ford China will supposedly have a new Escort around the same time frame.  BTW, Escort just went on sale in the Middle East GCC markets. So I believe the next gen is going to be a global product.

Keeping the names Fusion and Mondeo is a smart strategy. Two names that represented the best Ford sedans of all time. Escort is a great car that would have chances in Latin America, where spacious car is something appreciated, but conventional models such as Focus, Civic and Corolla are less affordable in Brazil, for example.

The Rivian BEV=Continential BEV

 

Going on that new EU photo, there looks like there is another product under the Ecosport or replaces it

 

Then you have the BEV Mid sized CUVs-not sure if they come out 2022 or 23 or if they are replacements for the Edge/Nautilus or complementary products.

Agree on the Rivian BEV=Continental BEV. Also, there's no indication that a "Zephir" will return to the Lincoln lineup, though many hope for some kind of sporty sedan to come in once the MKZ and current Continental sedans end. Also agree on the midsized BEV crossovers coming. For Lincoln it should slot in about where the "Zephir" is (currently under development alongside a Ford cousin). They might arrive as early as 2022, but could be 2023. As silvrsvt notes, there is little known about them except they are on their way and, like the MME and unlike the Rivian-based Lincoln, they are being developed in-house. It is said they will be roughly the size of the current Edge/Nautilus, which, along with the fact that this is the same timeperiod that Edge/Nautilus are due for redesign, has led some to think they could be a replacement. My bet is that, at least for now, there will be both ICE/hybrid and BEV products released as it is probably still too early to turn over that entire model slot (2-row midsized CUV) over to BEV. But we'll see.

Ford shot themselves in the foot when they announced so far in advance that they were abandoning all car models except to the Mustang. The feedback from customers, then and since, was how they wouldn't even consider buying or leasing a Ford car (especially Fusion) since Ford was going to stop building them. Of course, when customers hear that a model's being discontinued they think production stops immediately. Dealers had inventory scheduled that was in the pipeline and since then they've cut the incentives and all marketing support making the Fusion even more unattractive and the inventory is piling up as sales plummet.

 

Within the past 2 weeks, Ford Dealers met with their Ford Zone Managers to do the regular wholesale allocation meetings. This most recent meeting included the final "Balance Out" wholesale for the 2020MY Fusion that will finish production in early June. We used to average 12-15 Fusions per month but have delivered only 2 in the past three months and they wanted us to take even more inventory! Even more ironic is that the Ford rep's are telling us that there will be a new Fusion to replace the outgoing model. Of course, it's almost old news based on recent reports in Automotive News and other sources. You can interpret as you want about Ford's relationship with Dealers and how Dealers view current management in Dearborn!

So does anyone have any solid intel on the low end market?

 

There was an article about a low cost product being approved quickly by Ford last summer-but zero details.

 

When the Transit Connect goes into production, we are supposed to get a sub Ranger Trucklet that will be built off of it.

 

There was also rumors of a three row product and the before mentioned low cost product, but its quite possible this might have been mixed up info with the Bronco Sport going into Hermosillo with the TC and Trucklet.

 

So we have a 3 row CUV and a low costs CUV rumored with no home-Hermosillo will be building the Bronco Sport and apparently the Trucklet and TC-but that might have changed. Cuautitlán is building the Mach E world wide-so not sure what else, if anything will go there.

The low cost CUV is most likely the EcoSport replacement. Now that Ford has outsourced Indian market car development to Mahindra, they are free to make an EcoSport that is bigger and more practical that meets customer expectations outside India.

 

My guess is TC, TC truck (which may look more like Bronco Sport than TC) and Bronco Sport in Hermosillo. MACH E and EcoSport in Cuatitlan.

 

The 3 row CUV is being developed in Europe I believe as an Edge replacement.

So Mahindra is running most of the lower end products in India for Ford? If that is the case, that would make me wonder that Ford is planning on doing a more SUV version of the Puma and that is the Ecosport replacement for the US and other non-BRIC countries.

Regarding the lower end products, I read this last week that Ford Brazil is developing 3 new CUVs to be produced locally (NG Ecosport, NG Territory - not to be made in Argentina any longer - and a coupé-like vehicle). Not sure If they will reach other parts of globe. They should be released only in 21, 22 and 23, aproximately, as model years 22, 23, 24. They are based on the latest iteration of the B platform and is expected to grow considerably in dimensions to fight the likes of Jeep Compass. In fact, a mule has been spotted using a 2018 Escape skin as desguise. And that makes me wonder if this so called B3 is getting something from C1. Reports here emphasize that engineers major restriction is to use the same carriers to move cars along the productuon line to avoid adaptations in the plant and keep costs down. But as a pedestrian in the area, I don't know what can be in done in the project to make more C-like B CUVs.

Mahindra Ford is a joint venture now like Ford Otosan or Chang'an Ford but with Manhindra owning the majority (51%). Ford is still involved but it is going to basically localize India products based on Manhindra designs and let it crank out cheap low cost models.

Edge replacement in Europe is supposed to be 3 row CUV that is about the size of VW Tiguan Allspace. VW has dominated this segment in Europe with Tiguan Allspace and Skoda Kodiaq. It probably won't be a simple 3 row Kuga stretch but it will be a C2 vehicle. Not sure if this will make it to the US or China.

 

Midsize EV CUV is still coming but that's more US-centric product. I think the fact that current Edge is supposed to get another facelift means Ford has decided to cancel (or just wait) on the ICE Edge replacement in the US.

I haven't heard anything about another facelift for the Edge-everything had been pointing to a new one coming in 2022 or so.

"2021 Ford Everest spied" is the title, but maybe it's the 7 seat Edge. Definitely not a Ranger SUV.

 

Yeah that is a FWD product going by the engine placement...

 

Its also not the current CD4 platform either-the strut towers are different and the overall layout is close to the new 2020 Escape then the current Edge

Has the F-Series EV actually been announced?  I just don't understand how electric trucks can be a viable product.

The video of an EV F-150 pulling a train and Ford saying multiple times a BEV coming didn't count as an announcement?  ?

Why not?  With at least a 300 mile range (unladen) and the same tow/payload capacity as a base F150 it should do well depending on price.

 

You do realize most F150s only see light truck duty occasionally, right?   I haul some heavy stuff in mine but not very often.  Normally it's just my daily driver and commuter one day a week.  I don't think I've ever put more than 300 miles on it in a single day.  Charge it at night, never have to buy gas again.  Still hauls 1500 lbs of mulch or building materials or tows a boat.  What's not to like?
