mustangchief
So this went through my mind, the electronic soft close doors are released electrically. There is an emergency release (mini interior door handle) in the drivers door pocket. I thought what if the car is hit on the drivers side or head on, how do the passengers in the back get out if power is knocked out? Or the drivers door is mangled and cannot open, how do you get out? Enter the owners manual that you will probably never read completely. Each door has its own battery back-up in the door to open the latch in an emergency. If the battery gets low, you get a warning and the door will not close. Just an FYI

Bellanca
I always kind of wondered why there was only an emergency release on my driver’s side door.
akirby
Remember the guy who got stuck in his corvette because he forgot about (or never knew about) the emergency release? Battery backup is probably a cheaper solution that passengers don't have to think about.
