Bad shocks??

Ok, I have a 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 2WD. She is making horrible noises when hitting any bumps, tracks, and potholes. Sounds like loud sqeak and another loud noise I cannot describe so pretty sure the shocks are going bad. If you thinks it something else please let me know. Has anyone replaced the shocks on their their truck lately and what brand did you go with? I have Auto Zone and Advance Auto (I prefer Auto Zone if I have to go local ) around me. I was looking at Rock Auto for Motorcraft but if I don't have to spend a ton I prefer not to. How hard is this job to do and do you need any special tools? Would you suggest replacing all 4 or just those front two, the price no matter, I started playing on the online casinos in Canada and won jackpot after reading reviews on this website  https://canadiancasinos-online.com/ they wrote useful reviews about online casinos? Any help is appreciated folks.

If they are the original shocks (rears will have plastic dust tubes on the top half of the shock) they should be replaced. Not sure if the "loud squeak" would be caused by the shocks, but after 18 years, they may be the culprit. Replace all four and be done. Shocks on a 2001 Ranger are stone cold easy to change out. My personal preference is Monroe, but Gabriel is a decent second choice. Motorcraft replacement shocks are likely made by Monroe. Changing the shocks would be a good "first step" in diagnosis of your complaints, and while you are under the front end, you may want to grease up all the suspension fittings...if it has them.

The front suspension on my 2000 4.0 SuperCab 4x2 is the trucks Achilles heel, I had to replace the right side lower ball joint when the vehicle had just 60K miles. It made a horrendous squeaking sound over any road surface undulation. I replaced the joint myself with a grease-able Moog unit, the job was simple enough provided you have the proper tools. If memory serves me right I also  replaced the upper joint as well, the factory shocks were replaced long ago with Bilsteins.

The joint's premature demise was also attributed to the 3rd world country roads here in Honolulu, yet we pay probably the highest road taxes of all 50 states. Would you believe annual registration fees are $420.00 for my Y2K?

In retrospect, my '91 SuperCab gave me zero front suspension problems, but that truck had Ford's famed Twin I Beam design, probably the toughest if not the most over-engineered design in ANY pickup
