Furious1Auto
GOING FROM CLEANUP TO PRODUCTION Here is some truth. The damn cleanup service veterans make more than automakers pay STS’s because of their use of temporary workers!!! I know many don’t know this, and assume getting hired to work Ford production is an upgrade for Leadec employees, and in the long run it is if you can afford the pay cut. But for the first 2 years it’s a huge pay cut, Huge! This is what new people are expected to live off of in addition to the instability as automakers lay off repeatedly. Do the math and you can easily see why. Cleanup top rate.....................15.83 X50 hours per week. OT rate...............23.72 Production hire rate.....................15.78 X30 hours per week. Cleanup General Cleaner X40...................633.20 Taxes................462.23 General Cleaner X50 hours.........870.60 After tax............635.53 Production STS gross per week.................473.40 Taxes................345.58 Cleanup regular week’s pay....................635.53 Production........345.58 Loss..................289.95 This is not factoring in shift differential but look at your check now, could you sustain a 43% paycut for 104 weeks while you wait to progress or hope to get hired being dangled, and screwed around on your shift for up to 2 years? 1st off production work sucks, you are selling your body and sustaining cumulative micro injuries over time. Is it worth doing for a measly $345.58 per week and the promise of no pension and no 30 year goal? Hell you will have 10 years in before reaching top rate. No way in hell!
