Time Out

If he is a union member in good standing,he gets to have an opinion.I say "if" because I am old school enough NOT to believe everything I read on a computer screen.I dont see the need to be so obnoxious and hey,I was like that in the past so I aint perfect either.I mean make a point at least, be it well thought out or not.Autoworkers are in a tough spot right now and this is no time to start fighting each other.Speaking of which aint none of us intimidated by name calling on a keyboard. This issue of corruption should concern every member.Anyways,I guess now,we just wait it out.OHH-EEE-OHHH,,,,WHOA-OOOO!

I can`t agree more Fatso, the corruption will be front and center even though it is in the background (not to far back) currently with our incomes and benefits being front and center as they should be.

GE made a decision recently to freeze their pension benefits, whether it involves hourly employee`s yet I`m not sure but as the administrator of the fund they have the fiduciary control to keep the fund solvent. If that would be reducing benefits they would not need the ok from any member receiving benefits from the fund to freeze anything.  The pension fund changes would only need the ok from the government regulators over pension investments to get approval. Why I bring this up is just a point that our pension benefits have the chance of being tampered with and the last 4 or 5 contracts with the big 3 have proven our paid for leaders have yet to increase benefits and in some cases reduced pension benefits thru the retiree`s paying more for insurance benefits thru higher co pays for just about everything. Of course not sitting at the table we don`t have any idea or certain facts of what's is still in discussions but, us legacy members might want to take a closer look at any tentative agreement.

Ford reports a close to its projected full level pension fund payments but, with all the 401K talk and the corporate greed levels at what they are who knows what may happen to these investment funds that so many rely on and have paid into for so many years. IMO.... VEBA is the leading pension benefit check reduction with the non involvement of the IUAW on this issue a close second.

Has the Lifetime Income Benefit been increased for the pensioners in the past few contracts? If not then the pensions have already been frozen. This move alone saves Ford Motor money. So in a way the pensioners have been paying for the last couple contracts.I dont see things changing anytime soon.I only see it getting worse by higher co-pays for VEBA.About the IUAW corruption, which any honest, ethical  person would agree is wrong and deserves to be punished.Keep in mind that those UAW members who benefited from association with IUAW higher ups are sad that the corruption has been found out.Perks like, no show union jobs, invitations to meetings/parties/paid union leave and a vacations on Black Lake. There are more people with their 'fingers in the pie'  out here than just the higher ups.Innocent until proven guilty of course and if convicted the culprits turn into PRISON SCUM.

I agree the pension has already been frozen. In the near future l expect them to try to buy us out.

Aren't most, if not all of their hourly employees Unionized?

Yes

We have had some LIB increases in the last 15 to 20 years but those increases were to retiree`s that began to receive a benefit check after an hourly increase had occurred. Then the smoke screen and mirrors were played on us by those chosen one`s when they negotiated a stop in our COLA increase to roll that increase over to benefit the retiree`s. But basically one would retire with the same LIB as those with the same hourly rate did close to 15 years ago.

GE stated they needed to reduce the $8 billion dollars shortfall in their pension planning. No one ever asks where? or why the agreed on payments to the pension fund were not paid. Or to correct that a bit, why the money withheld from any increase in the hourly rate of pay wasn`t transferred to the pension fund that... they just administer. Basically GM, Ford and FCA have been dipping into our pension fund causing these "shortfalls" and the IUAW hasn`t had time to be involved to be a joint administrator? Most likely way to busy administrating all the other Joint Training Programs.....

The meaning of freeze is on benefits paid, no increases for added years of service and/or healthcare benefit coverage. The IUAW has the healthcare in place to free the big 3 from that already under control... We are already heading down that path of freeing the big three of that pension fund issue.....

The true cost of all these shit contracts we have been sold over all these years is yet a clear picture for the ones that have paid for all the corruption in one way or the other..... get ready for some real shit.

I meant by  freezing pensions. That if you have 26 years when it happens the next four years you’re not increasing your pension. They will switch to 401k so we’re all EQUAL. I don’t see them using money they need now to complete in electrifying their portfolio. That billion dollars could be used to buy the next company/piece they need to gain the advantage moving forward. Because if they get left behind they’re done. Plus the faster they get electric vehicles the faster they don’t need us. That equals true cost savings.

The problem with Plug in Electrics is the lack of demand. Though demand is growing, Americans outside of California do not appear to want PEV's

Sales of plug-in passenger cars achieved a 2.1% market share of new car sales in 2018, up from 1.3% in 2017, and 0.86% in 2016. *

I am in complete support of the GM employees efforts to get back some of what we gave up. I also think if we are going to fight, now is the time.

Remember with all Electrics we will no longer need engine or transmission plants. As GM begins to close engine and transmission plants they will need to address the issue of excess labor. As they shift to all electrics it is predicted they will need 40 to 45% less workers to assembly them. The batteries (battery cells) and the electric motors will also likely come from Japan or Korea, it is very unlikely they will be produced here in the US. Things are going to get very tough for the UAW and it's workers in the next 15 to 20 years so now is the time to stand..

If they cut their US hourly workforce by 40% that's 20,000  less UAW workers.

The  Engine and Transmission plants GM will no longer need when they go 100% Electric are listed below. These plants employee almost 10,000 workers and almost 18,000,000 sq feet of manufacturing floor space.

Baltimore (Closed this year)
471,000 sq. ft.

0 hourly employees

Bay City

975,000 sq. ft.

395 hourly workers

Bedford Casting Operations

1 million square feet on 155 acres

759 hourly workers

Defiance

1.9 million square feet; 428.6 acres

482 hourly workers

DMAX

584,000 square foot facility

670 hourly workers

Flint Engine Operations

1,165,212 sq ft

442 hourly workers

Romulus

1.4 million sq. ft.

1277 hourly workers

Saginaw

1.9 million square feet on 490 acres
371 hourly workers

Spring Hill Engine

1200 hourly workers

Toledo Transmission

2.82 million square feet; 151 acres

1519 hourly workers

Tonawanda
Approximately 3.1 million square feet

1356 hourly workers

Warren (closed this year)
2.1 million sq. ft.

0 hourly workers

8671 employees at 10 plants will no longer be needed at GM plus up 40 % of the assembly plant workers.

Electric Vehicles make up a very small percentage of overall sales, less than 2%. I dont think we need to panic over job losses right now.My guess is the company is working on the technological end planning 50 years into the future.Unless there is a Socialist Government mandate and of course taxpayer funded subsidies, the vast majority of consumers do not want electric vehicles.

Harley Davidson is once again leading the pack on its way down the road of change.

After millions in R&D with countless deep dive meetings they have a $30K electric motorcycle that is really quite, eco friendly and very trendy. Gets the enthusiast from point A to point B very smoothly.

But overlooked a little issue... freedom of the open road is geared to only 95 mile stretches? Then after 95 miles of your open road freedom you have a couple choices, one find a place to park with household current available for 12 hours or second choice one of those many convenient backroads commercial charging stations and park for at least an hour.

Harleys last sales reports indicate that all three eco minded motorcycle enthusiasts have purchased their dream bikes. But the good news is there is now a start up company projected to begin marketing specially adapted clothes pins and playing cards for these eco friendly enthusiasts to put on their spokes.  I can see that back patches now.... ELETRIC ANGLES or OLMS LAWS

Corporate Deep Divers seem to get high on their own supply....... wonder when the proto type steam powered Harley`s will start testing?

Looking at the number of replies to the threads here, you can’t afford to be silencing anyone in this forum.

Now what exactly was the justification for silencing my account? Blue Oval now intervenes in topics where before I have seen people threaten others with no intervention.

This site is dead, managed into the ground. Just a handful of old hat that never progressed with tech and social networking advancements and sit around agreeing with one another all day long.

When users start trashing each other for the sole reason of trashing each other and vulgarity is used things can go downhill in a hurry.I have been suspended multiple times and all I did was express my desire to make love to someone who also happens to be a mother? It does help make us all appear to be  more intellectual.

Riiight, as if I haven’t been active on this site before. You can look at my profile history and number of posts and will see I have more hairs on here then the people I am talking to.

Intervention costs you members. Probably why there is no longer anyone here. I was not vulgar, or disrespectful to anyone. You all just didn’t want to hear the truth. I was posting tons of pics of a strike that no one was trying to acknowledge was even happening.

6,

6,576 posts, very respectable number of posts in general.

Statistically proven, intervention has a small cost in public medium membership. Intellectual based controversy will build membership

Not vulgar or disrespectful very correct in general when based on the contents of most posts in general.

Speaking the truth and nothing but the truth is a method of court procedure but, there`s no swearing in on a public posting medium. Just a factious name (in some cases) and a click.

Posting a statement of being the "only" acknowledging factor of an event (a strike) that no one else was trying to acknowledge even with illustrations, may be an oversight on the poster`s part.

One point of your response was to reference your posting history. If that history is taken into consideration on the bases of the accumulation "days won" to the total accumulated posts this may indeed render a clear understanding of your percentage of "fact & truth" based statements in your posts.

Just my old ass opinion (again) and a box of crayons....but your cut and paste illustrations and the political undertones could be the truthful and or factual reason you were sent to the time out chair…

Not the ultimately entertaining, every dazzling and crudely put factual posts.... never
