Iqoniq
Hi. So, a month ago, the radiator went out. It ran fine before that, and even after the radiator went out, I started it up to turn it around once. So, I replaced the radiator, water pump, and thermostat. Started the truck up and drove it to town and back. A couple of days later, it wouldn't start. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and the crank position sensor, and still, no dice. My fuel pressure regulator doesn't appear to be bad, I have both fuel pressure and spark (I've tested for each), and my fuel injection fuse is good, but I'm still not getting anything. The truck cranks, but somehow, the fuel isn't getting into the cylinder. It tries to fire up when I use starting fluid. What's next? Where do I go from here? I'm planning to pull the entire injector assembly shortly and see if there's just a clog or something somewhere, but that just seems ... unlikely. But then again, it's unlikely that it's not starting, so I dunno.
fordtech1
Does the theft light come on and go out when key is turned on? Does the check engine light go out during cranking? Did you check the inertia switch on the passenger side footwell for being tripped? Does the fuel pump prime when you turn key to run? Iqoniq
I'm not sure about he first two, but I hadn't noticed anything abnormal there. But yes, I checked that switch, and yeah, the pump primes.. Edited October 13, 2019 by Iqoniq spelling
fordtech1
Something else to keep in mind. The crank position sensor is adjustable and there is a special tool to gap it correctly. If it’s not close enough it won’t pick up. I would make sure it’s very close to exciter ring on balancer without hitting it. Check the theft light operation. It should come on solid and turn off if everything is operating correctly. If it’s flashing then it’s locked out by pats.
