The problem may be that they install them indoors, or the dealership has locked gates restricting access. They need to be accessible 24-7.

HRG

My local dealer put them out front in the guest parking area.

Yes, but what are you doing to do at a dealership while waiting for your vehicle to charge?   Then again I guess Tesla's chargers have the same issue unless they happen to be co-located with shopping, food or entertainment.

I mean.  What do you do at any charger?  Dealers often have places around, depending on where of course.  They don't have to be the entire network, but my point is just that you could rapidly expand any sort of charging network by doing that.

Oh I agree it's the right thing to do, just pointing out that they would work better if you could at least get something to eat or shop or watch a movie while it charged.

Hm.  Install cafes in the dealer?  Pull people in to look at other models?

Obviously not an option at all locations.

Tesla does a good job selecting sites for Superchargers that are near restaurants, shopping centers, resorts, hotels, theaters, casinos, etc.

For example, the Supercharger location in Fort Worth is right next to Angelo's BBQ.?

And by the time you get your drink, you should have a nearly full charge!

Takes me about 60 seconds.   90 if I walk slowly.  (I order ahead with the app)

Or 7 minutes if Becky grabs my drink by mistake cause she can't read the label......

How about negotiating a deal to trade the EV for a nice ICE vehicle that doesn’t force you to waste half a day charging every time you want to get 150 miles down the road?

I was mostly kidding.  I order ahead as well, but when I stopped yesterday, the place was nuts with the parking lot completely packed and the drive through lined up around the building.

I wasn't joking about Becky.  I stopped at my local SB and strangely my order wasn't ready (I placed it when I left home which is 6 minutes away and it's almost always ready by the time I get there).  So I waited a minute and didn't see anything coming out, but there was a drink sitting there with Becky's name on it.   I asked the guy if he had my drink in queue and he said I'm pretty sure I already made it.  So I said I bet Becky has it.   30 seconds later Becky comes back in and says "I got the wrong drink".   They were already making me a new one.   Dammit Becky how hard is it to read the name on the cup?

Only 2 of the 6 near me are within walking distance of anything.  The rest are in a rural or commercial/industrial area with no shops or restaurants nearby.

Hm.  Well, guess I'm used to being in busy city areas - South Florida is so developed in a small strip of available land, so everything is squished together.

Seriously! How hard is it!?

The few times I order, I use the app on my phone.  Well, it's logged in with my wife's account.  They look at me funny when they say "drink for Melanie" and I pick it up.  ?

That is strange since you're wearing high heels and makeup.
