Bronco and Bronco Sport World Premier July 13th!!

Recommended Posts

Bit surprised no one here has commented on these photos and the white top on the Wildtrak. According to Mike Levine this is early prototype testing and that the white top is not an option. Bums me out as we were previously told through the grape vine not to worry about the white top. The lineup is looking nice though!

Mike Levine is also not the best at word choice sometimes.  And/or his words can be taken out of context.

In what he's saying, it sounds like he might be talking about this being an early MIC white top prototype that they were working on, and THAT'S why it's "not available" because there won't be a white MIC top.  He didn't necessarily say anything about a white painted top.

Mystery Green Bronco Super Celebration East.jpg

A possible green Bronco was hidden in a trailer at Super Cel East. When asked about it the drivers and employees were very quiet. Allegedly it is heading to an event in Seattle. People are speculating that it is either the Big Bend Mountain Dew giveaway vehicle or it is a Warthog tied to the Halo video game.

Reasoning behind the Halo theory...

1. Microsoft is in Seattle

2. Microsoft owns Xbox which owns Halo

3. New Xbox is coming out in November (Xbox Series X)

4. New Halo game is coming out in 2021

5. Halo has a famous vehicle called the Warthog

6. Microsoft and Ford have worked together in the past. (edited due to error)

I just don't see the suspension in this lining up with what we have seen previously for it to be a Warthog.

Ford hasn't worked with Microsoft on Sync since Sync 2. Sync 3+ is developed with QNX, since ~2016.

That doesn't mean the door is completely closed on possibly working together again

This is true. My statement was only a correction to the previous post that indicated that Ford and Microsoft are working together on Sync, which is not currently correct and hasn't been for over four years.

Some history on MFT.   It was originally written by BSquare which was a company formed by former Microsoft employees.   It was released on the 2011 Edge and was a complete disaster.  It was nowhere near ready to launch but they had no backup plan to continue with sync 1 and they couldn't delay the launch of the 2011 Edge so they went ahead hoping they could get it stabilized quickly after launch.   It was finally stabilized but it took months to get it close to stable and a couple of years to finally stabilize it.   Ford fired BSquare and brought in Microsoft to help fix it at one point.   Of course this was all running on Microsoft OS but Microsoft didn't write the GUI.

Sync 3 switched to QNX and I doubt they'll be going back to MSFT for the OS.   Ford learned their lesson and sync 3 was not tied to new vehicle launches.
