I don't think they actually started producing tops at the plant they have now til almost a year later? If COVID didn't happen-would this still happened? My gut says yeah most likely. But I thought this was a brand new plant so it had to be under construction for at least a year. That’s what I thought was delayed.
HotRunrGuy
They have a few openings at that plant in case anybody wants to help out,,,, https://jobs.webasto.com/go/Jobs-for-Professionals/4925801/?q=&q2=&alertId=&title=&location=plymouth%2C+mi&shifttype=&date= HRG

Article also says Ford is giving Webasto a lot of money and manpower to help fix the problem and get more (good) tops made.
PREMiERdrum
The building timeline wasn't the problem. The tooling was slower to arrive and eventually needed to be reworked and partially replaced. COVID-related shutdowns dealt perhaps the two biggest problems that they can't seem to get out from under: Getting the proper materials and resins to the plant to test out the equipment in meaningful numbers, and hiring and onboarding staff. The big investment from Ford came months ago to rework the tooling and help onboard more staff, but I haven't talked to any source who was more confident in the recent deliveries from Webasto to the plant.

PREMiERdrum
First time going fully topless. Took me about 10 minutes total to get the clamshell off, and I was able to do it mostly on my own with just my 9 year old son helping steady it. Super easy, and an AWESOME driving experience.
