CAP Vote

Recommended Posts

With 3 facilities "FULL" of over 6000 dues paying voters (CAP, SHO, and TDM) a total votes cast 2410 is the typical CAP mindset.

Oh then we have the "I" ain`t voting for that shit, members that shut the fuck up when you respond with what did you think you were going to get in a contract? Expanded or paid FMLA leave? Stopping of all  attendance occurrences?  Profit sharing for hours on medical leave, FMLA or while you are out with the girls?

Yep I wish we got everything I and so many others gave back over the last 4 or 5 contracts but just like with the turn out to vote on "all" CAP members future... that shit ain`t gunna happen.

3 or 4 members with less than a year stated we didn`t even get our cost of living back? What the fuck.... one of new members has a grand total of 4 months, when I asked how did you lose cost of living? It jumped right out his mouth but that's what I heard.... So I asked the young man what did GM members benefit by not getting paid for 6 weeks? the response... I don`t know but they got $11K signing bonus... hmmm

lol had a temp bring up COLA, he thought we got free pop

WHAT no $250 xmas bonus 7 awols and I'm fired? forget that we be striking, GM did and got what they wanted we should stand up to the company too.

That was a 4 month temp who claims to be related to someone so he's entitled.

I stopped explaining things when they started crying how seniority employees were bullying them.

I can bet nearly no one on C crew voted and they'll be bitching when their shift is gone in a few months, there wasn't enough offered for legacy to leave so most are staying now.

I think the contract is a homerun for production. There is improvement over the current situation.Things are getting better for temps and lower tier, right?I am trades and the only extra I get is a $2000 tooling allowance over the 4 year life of the contract.I am also responsible for buying my own tools.Let me add that my hourly wage rate is average at best compared to  what my trade is being paid on the outside. If production had its way the extra hourly rate paid to the trades would be divided up among  everybody and trades pay would equal production pay.I guess I can be thankful for my $3 an hour rate over what a team leader makes.Of course if that was the case the trades would be,,,highly unmotivated,,to say the least.$500 a year is my additional $$$ for being trades.I have production workers tell me they always vote NO first time.I have lower tiered production workers tell me they want equal pay for all immediately. Many companies have a progressive wage schedule not just Ford. One thing I learned from watching the GM strike is that the company is a tough opponent.GM lost a billion dollars and their sales did not slip.Who knows how long GM would hold out against the strikers if no COMPROMISE was agreed to?GM lost a billion dollars and still paid healthcare to striking workers, which they did not have to do.I would strike under the right circumstances. The icing on the cake for production is a $60,000 severance bonus, voluntary, for all eligible workers who want to leave their job. That is a lot of money to a guy like me and its much better than $2000 to buy tools, over 4 years of showing up at the plant.I am grateful to have a job that pays the whole cost of my health insurance.National public sentiment would not be on our side if we went out on strike.I am a YES vote.Striking would not be worth it,in my opinion. The lost wages, lower profit sharing,no guarantee that Ford will keep paying our healthcare while out on strike, lost holiday pay. That being said I will stand in solidarity either way the vote turns out.$60,000 severance,,,,to ALL eligible production!Take the $$$ and run if you dont like the job.Trades get this,,,up to 200 {out of all trades} workers who retire as determined,up to 200 not "ALL".Its nice be wanted,LOL.

if passes we're looking to get a signing bonus around good friday, our dec bonus falls in place on time but  a no vote delays all that and they have to put up with me that much longer.

that sales pitch turned 5 votes, should of been more intimidating and had my roving gangs with me I might of turned more

I was surprised by the CAP voting results.

CAP  is having a historically bad launch coming off of multiple harassment issues and the membership shoots down a decent (IMHO) contract.

Its on par with cutting off the tree branch you are hanging on.

So you voted "yes" because of the $9000 signing bonus? And this Dec bonus? There is no Dec bonus. There's a 4% lump sum in stead of a raise. All you seen was $$$, who cares about the rest.

Keep drinking the kool-aid

It`s better than voting "NO" because people that never had something... didn`t get it back. That type of voting is the kool aid.

Yep $9K and not giving me part of my profit sharing now that I`d get anyway... in March. Yep 4% lump in a few weeks instead of walking a picket line for 6 weeks. Yep insurance that stays pretty much the same. Yep two increases in hourly rates is better then the years of none. Annnnnd now I can watch the RICO swing into full effect without watching it on my iPhone next to a garbage can burning picket signs to keep warm and waiting for the handouts from the local businesses at the hall.... :lurk:

Show Me Daaa Money :hat_tip:

Hmm Rory readin from the same script as Denny and Gary.....

Acting UAW president concerned about RICO, says he’s ‘confident’ current board is clean <-----  :whistling:

Rory Gamble, acting president of United Auto Workers, says he is concerned that an ongoing federal corruption probe into the union could lead to a RICO case and government oversight :lurk:

Only “Top Rate” Employees get the December lump sum bonus. Had they changed that to everyone gets it...then the contract would’ve been a slam dunk...However now you got a bunch of members with 5-8 years seniority that are pissed because of the wage progression and on top of that not receiving the lump sum bonus. Is it worth striking over, probably not but this would’ve had no problem passing had they changed that.

Fats I for one do not believe in the bringing down skill trades pay for my benefit ,never did. You guys have more skills ,went to trade school so you have earned the extra money. I am at CAP and tried to reason with a few non legacy employees. If I am reading the highlights correctly all full time employees will be at top pay after the end of the four year contract. One guy was mad that they made him start over to become full time keeping none of his pay or seniority.I told him that was not right but the temps were not the only ones who lost. We lost our asses in the 2008 concessions. Raises,COLA,job banks ,GIS,legal plan, pensions for new hires, lower starting pay, etc. He said in the future they would vote to cut legacy workers pay and I said so you going to take a cut too because you know you are at full pay LOL. I said so in the future when people come in making less should they vote to cut your pay to have more? He was saying the UAW should strike and that way we would get a much better contract. I said look at GM they were out for almost 2 months for plant closings and guess what ,they came back to work and those plants are still closing and GM told them to expect 3k less on your profit sharing. So basically they financed their own strike which ended in failure. He said the UAW would be behind them all the way. I said really? Who do you think brought this contract to us and why are they recommending it OMG! If they really cared about the GM strike they would have raised the strike pay up to at least $800.00 a week so people would not get starved out. But they did not do that did they? These guys are getting charged left and right with stealing money from us so who's side do you really think they are on ours or the companies? Look I am a Union guy and a believer in Unions but our Union officials are not directly elected by us so we cannot do shit to these guys and they know it that is why these contracts are basically a wash in the sense we are not really making any big gains or getting what we lost back just treading water! What is funny at CAP and I am sure we are not unique is that these workers actually think we have Ford over a barrel and they are really scared and cannot run without us LOL. Until ALL workers unite and I mean All of us, Unions grow exponentially and the trade laws change the rich and powerful are in complete control. I will fight for a cause when I have to and when I know I have a very good chance of winning but we workers cannot beat these guys at this time. They are in COMPLETE control of the banks, trade laws, labor laws, energy production, food production, etc. I have over 31 years and have been through a plant closure, lots and lots of layoffs. They offered 60k for me to leave. I wish it would have been the 70 like last time but hey how much does Taco Bell are Home Depot give you when You retire?.....NOT SHIT!!!! I am taking the money and running out of there as fast as they let me sign up. Hell if they told me the day I sign up you have to go today I would ask " Can I at least get my lunch box and backpack first? But then again if you want that you can have that too ......I JUST WANT THE FLYING FUCK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!I have had enough!!!!! UNCLE,UNCLE, UNCLE!!!!!  I hope this contract passes and yes I voted YES. Too bad over half of my plant did not even bother to take the time to vote but will surely take the time to bitch about how we are getting screwed to take 9k just to go back to work!

Communist and Socialist are not the same. Scandinavian countries are Democratic Socialist and have the highest standards of living in the world. On your other statement I agree I work at CAP and the "Decisive Rejection" is based on complete ignorance , misinformation and a the workers elevated sense of greatness that Ford cannot function without LOL.

You are correct about Scandinavian Democratic Socialism but you are wrong about the World Socialist Website. The World Socialist is an international socialist news site that is the online news and information publication of the International Committee of the Fourth International. They are unabashed Marxists... Trotskyites, to be precise.

I'm not surprised at the no votes.  Legacy employees didn't gain anything,  the 2nd tier employees gained the most.  The economy is the best it has been in years yet:

We lost our x-mas bonus.

Retirees lost their x-mas bonus.

We lost $10,000 on the buyouts.

Went backwards on awols.

We still didn't get back any of our break time or regular cola.

Still nothing added to our pension LIB for the last 12 + yrs.  The $1000 deposit to tesphe is a JOKE, do the math on that one.  If you retire with 30 yrs and live 15 yrs after you retire that's an increase of 18 cents per LIB unit, that's $5.40 a month.  Social Security raise next year on average is projected to be about $23 a month.

Still no raises for past retirees.

Camera's on work stations, HELL NO.

The only gain I see is that there isn't a pull ahead on your profit sharing this time.

I'm sure there are more, these are just off the top of my head late at night.

not our local, they only fight to get your job back if you harassed someone. Many have been fired from CAP because of awols.

Legacy got a raise

I won't miss $250 as much as I miss COLA

The 10k loss in buyout sucks

awols they're still not as strict as other non union factories I say 3 with in 1 yr and fired but I've only had 3 in 24 years from family passing.

Buy our pensions, I can hustle milk money when I'm 65

Cameras on your TV's phones cars and even your damn doorbells and you're scared of a camera at your work station?

major gain is you still have work for the next 4 years, you got a contract before the sinking ship IUAW is taken over by the Trump administration.

Imagine what you would get then.

The opportunity to get back any concessions we lost during the bail out era was lost in 2015, we backed the union and they screwed us. GM went on a 40 day strike and this is the pattern they won.

No this isn't a great contract but you can't really expect more with a broken IUAW. You want a better contract, find a better union.
