Hello, have a 2019 edge titanium, the warning light went off for the awd/power train and brought to the dealer and they said it was just for an update well 3 weeks later and its on again, just wondered if other edge owners are getting "updates" and having to bring in theirs or are they just bs ing me before I yell. Thanks

You probably misunderstood what was said.  There might be a software update available to address an issue that causes a warning light but the light doesn't come on because it thinks it needs an update.  Doesn't work that way.   Sounds like the dealer got lazy and just applied a software update hoping it fixes the problem without doing proper troubleshooting.

Not sure what code was retrieved, but SSM 48045 says to reprogram the AWD module for DTC C0095:99. If that is the code retrieved, the SSM has to be applied, the tech has no choice in the matter. These are the repair processes set forth by FoMoCo. IF the same code resets then normal diagnostics can be performed.

FYI: the tech gets paid a maximum 0.4 hr to perform the entire process of getting the car in the bay, hooking up, pulling codes, check OASIS for the update, updating the module then retesting and clearing codes that may have set during the program process. 0.1 hr may still be cut from this as labor op 12651DX1 is a grey area and might be rejected by the dealer's warranty admin or OWS. Ford *DOES NOT* pay for a test drive or verification of the repair beyond the code check after the program. The kicker is that if they performed some other repair instead of the SSM, the entire claim would probably be rejected. There are dealers who would then backflag the tech for the non-paid repair.

But by all means, go yell at your lazy tech.
