Combine that with a saturated market compared to 20 years ago and the popularity of crossovers and you’re left with price wars and razor thin margins even for the top rated contenders. So when the CUV segments become cutthroat with razor thin profits, then what? You will have a smaller Ford that ran off customers having to spend lots of money trying to woo them back. That's the part that all of you Hackett parroters don't have an answer for. It's all blah blah blah ATPs blah blah blah to you. Compact and midsize cars are still core segments. What some of you don’t seem to understand is you can’t keep all those cars and develop all the new vehicles at the same time. Nice bit of condescension... WE understand perfectly that Ford is trying to run and hide in what is for the moment the slightly more profitable CUV market segment. And Ford has already spent the money developing the new Focus. For me, I like the lower center of gravity that cars have. I like good handling, CUVs don't provide that.(and yes, I've driven them) The only thing that would get me to buy a CUV is that the new management company hired by our HOA is making "adjustments" to the snow removal policy. It's about 200 ft from my garage to the street.. Edited December 1, 2019 by AGR 1

akirby
It’s perfectly logical to say you don’t like the styling or the high center of gravity or a dozen other reasons. That’s personal preference. To say you hate them because you can’t see around them is illogical because 1 - you don’t need to see around other vehicles to drive safely and 2 - there are all those other types of vehicles you also can’t see around. You can only really see around vehicles smaller than yours. Thus the sarcasm.

Before there were SUV/ CUV's there were trucks and other large vehicles on the road but the percentage was small. Now most have a larger / tall vehicle. That is all I was saying. I didn't say I could see around trucks ever.

He wants to bitch and moan and ram his ideas and preferences down everyone else's throat. He's an internet bully and a jerk and narcissist. He says he's going elsewhere for a sedan, I say hurry up and leave! Find me five posts of his in the last year where he isn't being a tool to someone! brucelinc
I don't hate SUVs or CUVs. I just have no use for a vehicle that attempts to combine sport, utility, comfort, style and other things into one package. From my perspective, SUVs or CUVs do not do any of those things particularly well. I prefer having a sporty car for fun and style, an upscale and well-equipped sedan for comfortable travel and a 4X4 pick-up for hauling stuff and driving when the roads are snowy or icy. For me, those are the right tools for each job. I have never been one to follow the trends when it comes to buying vehicles so having an SUV just because they are so popular at the moment doesn't tempt me at all.
