no cold start

Recommended Posts

97 explorer 5.0, no start cold unless starting fluid is used. It will then start and run fine. Once it gets cold it won't start again without starting fluid.

Similar issue on my '95 F150 with twin tanks...on the front tank, she would stumble and sputter to life on a cold start and after warm up, it would re-start fine. Rear tank it would start fine cold or warm...check your fuel pump, I am guessing it is starting to crap out on you.

If it runs rough until it warms a little after you get it started, try replacing the idle air control (IAC) valve.

That was the first thing I went after when mine started acting up...no difference. Front fuel tank was weak....damnedest thing I ever saw.
