Ramrod79
Hey guys I was just wondering how often you are draining the fuel filter water separator on your diesels? I just hit 6k km’s on my truck and drained it, it looked fine. It was quick and easy to do, I was reading of guys draining them monthly but that seems a little excessive to me. Cford716
When I had my 6.7 I drained it monthly. Like you said it was quick and easy. Small price to pay compared to the price if the time you skip it and you toast your fuel system.
YT90SC
It literally takes ONE tank of water contaminated fuel to destroy a fuel system if there is enough water in it. Drain it regularly, and buy fuel from a reputable and repeatable source.
Ramrod79
Well I guess I better start draining it more frequently. Would you not get a warning as soon as some water was in the the filter even if was a small amount and be able to stop and drain before it became an expensive situation? Ramrod79
Are you guys draining your filters after so many km/miles? I have only drained mine twice now but I still only have 11K km’s/6.8K miles in 15 months.
Buzzman
I drain mine every oil change and change the filter 2 times a years this is the most important system on a diesel engine. Buzzman
Ramrod79
I have had my truck for 17 months and only have about 11k km’s/6800miles so I don’t run it to often. Probably don’t need to drain as often as those who rack up the hours in their trucks.
