rperez817
Ford is responding to customer demand for all electric trucks and vans. They announced BEV F-150 last year, today they put out a press release for 2022 BEV Transit Van for U.S. and Canada markets. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2020/03/03/ford-to-offer-all-electric-transit.html The all-electric Ford Transit will offer uncompromised cargo capacity and the power of choice with a variety of chassis options, including cargo van, cutaway and chassis cab, plus three roof heights and three body lengths. Customers will have the full backing of the company’s massive electric vehicle-certified dealer network, more than 730 commercial vehicle centers across the U.S. and Canada, and access to Ford’s charging network – North America’s largest public charging network***. Fleet operators can expect advantages beyond just eliminating trips to the gas station. All-electric powertrains mean significantly less scheduled maintenance than internal combustion engines, plus lower operating costs. Electric vehicle fleets may benefit from federal, state and local electric vehicle tax incentives, access to high-occupancy vehicle lanes and free parking. Electric vehicles can operate where vans with internal combustion engines cannot, including indoors, in environments with limited ventilation, and at night in areas with restrictive noise ordinances. Further details about the all-electric Ford Transit and its features will be revealed later.

Initial purchase price of BEV commercial van is more than a gasoline or diesel van, but operating costs and total cost of ownership or lease will be lower.
sho94_2000
I'd say a more pressing issue is getting the GVWR of the Transit up to par with the E-Series so that we can finally be done with the E-Series but this should sell well if done correctly. The only work van worth buying is the Transit and this should solidify that position.

Its more of a political statement than potential savings after 10 or so years...Municipalities don't put huge miles on their vehicles...Ive seen service trucks 10 years old yet to hit 15000 miles....so...in that case BEVS will NOT be cheaper at all. Also corruption in the LA city government too.
