ASMS1
Does anyone know what this bar (below the chin) is or is used for? I don’t have access to the prior owner but he did haul a 25’ camper with the truck. 2002 F-250 SD 7.3D

It is referred to as a "Mansfield Bar" after actress Jayne Mansfield was decapitated when a car she was riding in struck a tractor trailer and the car went under the rig. Also known as an "underride guard" or a "D.O.T. Bar" https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/28155/how-jayne-mansfield-changed-design-tractor-trailers Edited August 28, 2020 by twintornados

Interesting trivia! Everything I've ever seen calls it a "blocker beam", but the purpose is the same- keeps the truck from running over the top of ramp shaped cars. It is 100% factory and you can only see it because the air dam under the bumper is gone. '99 to '07 trucks have them. I think they stopped in 2008 when they redesigned the frame and bolted two big horns "front to front compatibility brackets" to serve the same purpose... Trivia that still echoes to today...actress Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order SVU fame (Olivia Benson) was in the back seat as a 3 year old child...she is Jayne Mansfields' daughter with Mr. Universe, Mickey Hargitay.
