Paradise
Hi, I'm curious about how long it takes in average to build an Escape, from the start to the parking lot? Does it change a lot between models and trims? Thanks Edited September 4, 2020 by Paradise Change title
MikeHTally
If you're talking about final assembly (excluding the motor, transmission, etc.), probably an hour or so.
ice-capades
If you're talking OTD (Order-to-Delivery) figure 6-8 weeks depending on when the vehicle is ordered with the WBDO (Web Based Dealer Order) system and the newer allocation scheduling system that includes the Escape. Sometimes the right order gets submitted at the right time and it can get scheduled and built unusually fast. The Vehicle Visibility report and Window Sticker attached is for a Retail Order 2020 Escape SE Sport AWD Hybrid that was ordered on 08/05/2020, scheduled on 08/13/2020, in production on 08/14/2020 and delivered to the dealership on 09/02/2020! 29 days OTD but this is a rare exception! 1FMCU9BZ5LUC30580_WS.pdf
Paradise
Thanks, very interesting. So from your example: 10 days from "Send to plan" to "Release" Is it normal or exceptional? Is it about the same for all versions (FWD, AWD, hybrid, PHEV etc...) ?

"Released" does not necessarily mean that the vehicle will be shipped right away. Initial Model Year orders are usually restricted to dealer stock orders with vehicles held at the plant until the "Okay to Buy" status is achieved. The "Okay to Buy" also signifies the initial shipping release. At other times, a commodity issue or recall can cause vehicles to be held at the plant for repairs prior to being released for shipping. escape20
Quote I was wondering if there is a way to get that chart of all the dates for my Escape that was delivered in January? Would be interesting to have that info. Thanks Quote
