hotrodlincoln
just brought home my new Lincoln Aviator Reserve with the Dynamic Handling Package, Reserve II, Tow Package, Illumination Package, Convienence Package and the ride with the 22 inchers on it does not ride very well at all. A harsh ride and a ride that feels like there is a tire out of balance? Rides like its on a wash board. Also, the engine on start up runs rough for approx 30 seconds then smooths out to whisper quiet. Is this the nature of the beast or should it go back to the dealer for a service visit? eylarson
Not at all like ours, although we do not have the tow package, but i see nothing in the tow package specs that would make a difference in the ride.
Black Label
I wouldn't have brought it home. I would have turned around and gone back to the dealer. In no way, shape, or form could it be normal for a luxury vehicle ,or any new vehicle, to have a harsh, washboard like ride.
LHB
Does not sound right; as though something may, or may not be seriously wrong ... back to shop immediatly if not sooner if it were me.
hotrodlincoln
I took a couple pounds of air out of the tires to see if that would help any but, did not make in a difference. I also noticed about the engine rough idle. Does it when cold only. When its been just shut off or warm it does not have the roughness to it. Pretty smooth. Was the rough idle and rough ride present when you test drove the vehicle, prior to purchase?
hotrodlincoln
Not aware of it at the time of the 5 mile test drive. Noticed the next morning after we got it home and the dealership was closed on Sat, plus the holiday weekend.
LHB
Hope you are/have taken it into dealer by now ... the bumpy ride could be something like a tread separation on one or more tires (a blowout about to happen).
hotrodlincoln
Tires were road force balanced using a Hunter. One tire the best they could get was 47 lbs, the other 3 were (3,4,10). So they are going to replace the one bad tire. The tires on the Aviator with the 22's are lined with acoustic foam to keep the road noise down. Still have to get the rough engine idle issue looked at. Windshield has tiny pits in it. Must be a million of them in the entire windshield, looks like a haze. You can only see them when the sun is low and directly at the windshield. Looks like another forum member has the same issue.
