Replacing wood trim with black label aluminum

Hi Mithras. Two issues. First...technically, Lincoln Dealers can only sell Black Label parts to Black Label Owners. Lincoln/Ford are very strict about this.

 

Second...it would not be what most people would call easy. All door panels would need to be removed, along with dash pieces, the center console etc. Wherever there is trim.

 

You might want to check on having the trim "wrapped", as 92merc recommended.

You absolutely can buy the parts to replace your trim pieces, although they are a little pricey  There are two awesome engine turned aluminum choices, dark like in the Black Label and light like in the regular Grand Touring.  There is nothing special about Black Labels other than the perks, interior themes, some exterior trim and wheel styles.  The regular GT has all of the exterior Black Label trim features except the door inserts and mirror caps are gloss black instead of chrome.  The parts list makes no distinction between regular and Black Label for this trim,  part numbers are shown for all wood and aluminum choices.  The part numbers and pricing are available at your dealer or online discount oem parts sites like this:

This trim is below the instrument panel top cover, at the top of the front consol and at the front edge of the rear consol.  It doesn't look like it would be very difficult to replace.  You can get the full factory service manual to show you how to do it here:

I'm starting to acquire Cashmere interior parts for my Nautilus.   I figure those will be difficult to find in a decade or so.  I was going to write Ford about long term storage in their factory packaging but perhaps you guys may know.  Does Ford use acid free packing materials or should i repackage for long term storage?  I provide my vin when ordering, have not had a problem getting Black Label parts except for out of stock items.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. Yes a little pricey to change over, but the dark engine turned looks so much better to me than the wood, especially with the roast interior.

I agree, the dark engined turned would look awesome with the roast interior and would be worth the effort to change over!  The light engine turned is standard in the GT with the medium slate inerior and optional with the roast.  The light looks fantastic with the slate but I think dark would definetly go best with roast.

I just signed for a 2020 Aviator.  I came to this forum with the exact same question.  I chose the Ebony Black on Silver color combination.  I like everything about it except for the wood trim.  I wish they made this an option.  Regardless, I'm thinking of doing a wrap on the wood trim, as replacing it would be far too expensive (it is a lease).

 

Does anyone know if the trim simply "snaps" out?  It would be much easier to wrap with it off the vehicle.

 

Any suggestions for getting it off would be much appreciated.

I decided to dive into this.  The Center and Rear consoles were easy to remove.  4 clips on the front console, 6 clips on the rear console (I have attached images).

 

I'm very happy with the result.  I ended up trying a "carbon fiber" wrap, since I had some leftover.  Results look good.

You can see where the latches are on the two pieces.  The front trim piece was very easy.  I used a plastic trim tool to just pry on the bottom and top.  The buttons/knobs are all one unit that screws into the trim piece and can be very easily disconnected.

 

The back trim piece is for the 2nd row console, if you have it.  It was a little trickier as there are 6 clips there and I used the pry tool from the side.  The trick was that when I would pry up the one side, the other would latch back into place, so I used a second pry tool to hold the first side and then pried up the second.  Same thing with the electronics, it easily disconnects from the console, and is held in place by a few torx screws.

 

I haven't attacked the dash trim pieces.  The dealer told me that you'd have to pull the whole dash, which I'm not interested in doing, but I'm not sure if they are correct or not.  I'm concerned that they may be screwed in at one or two spots.
