Rumoured MMZ replacement spotted in Shanghai. We'll see what it really looks like tomorrow.

you mean Lincoln MKZ replacement?  Is logical. The sedans are alive in China, and Lincoln needs  the MKZ and the Continental there. In fact, the Taurus, the Escort, the Focus sedan , the Fusion, the Fiesta sedan are alive and are important part of the Ford line up there.

Interesting that Ford has been able to keep MKZ replacement underwraps for so long. But makes total sense that it is part of the Mondeo replacement program.

I wonder if some of the mules we saw earlier is actually the Lincoln version - i.e. the whole square back vs. fastback look of the different mules and supposedly the different dashboard. Ford version has the big single screen while Lincoln version will have a traditional bionicle housing for the instrument panel and a second screen in the center stack.

Edit: the program codes:

CD542: Mondeo 5th gen (Evos)

CD754: MKZ 3rd gen (???)

I wonder if the MKZ will get a new name?

Is this vehicle related with the Zephyr concept?  Looks like the same sedan/coupe/wagon on stilts . When I saw both cars I remembered the AMC Eagle. Those cars are sedans, coupes and wagons with AWD and high ride...  the new Ford and the new Lincoln looks exactly like those AMCs.

The Evos is attractive. I’m not sure about the six windows profile, but the rest of the car is very attractive.

The interior is completely different from any car in the Ford line up. Is this interior only for China?  Is the grill... similar as the Chinese Explorer exclusive grill, exclusive for the chinese model?

This car will be available in USA? The rumors say not.  For sure, this will be the Mondeo replacement in Europe.

I like much of it, but the C pillar just doesn't work at all. The tail lights are too similar to the large Volvo sedan.

It is a "concept", and IMO the greenhouse looks too busy because of that bit that is tacked on. I think it would look slightly better if the fake glass/black part on the C pillar was eliminated and was left "floating" on the black roof and windows.

It also has those rear quarter panel "wings/fins" that was previewed on the concept from last year...they actually look decent in application.

The Evos makes me feel a bit better about Ford's future direction when it comes to styling. The past few products (Escape and a less extent the Explorer) made me think they where getting too bland for the marketplace.

You can see how they "share" sheetmetal without being overt about it. The Evos has a slightly lift to it with black plastic surrounds around the wheel wells to make it more CUV/SUV like.

The greenhouse shapes are similar and gives me hope they get rid of that stupid black piece on the C pillar of the Evos...I think the floating design would look so much better and less busy.

This is the new design language for Ford so it will slowly make its way to the rest of the world. I posted the Fiesta facelift spy photo in the perpetual Ford product thread with this new grille under camo. This front end design debuted with Chinese Escape last year and has now appeared on Escort facelift and the new Equator.

The interior is less certain. Ford vehicles in other regions are not considered premium brand like they are in China so hard to imagine Ford offering an interior that cost hundreds more dollars than the cheap interior they put in US spec Escape and Explorer for example. It's not just the design but also the grade of material used. Ford China spared no expenses in using high grade plastic and leather in China because the consumers there are very demanding. Buyers in other traditional Ford markets like US, Europe, and Australia have very low expectations so Ford will probably use a different interior with smaller screens.

Also, Ford is calling Evos a concept (it is shown as an EV) but the production model could still be called Mondeo (like the previous Evos concept) with variety of 48V, hybrid, and PHEV powertrains.

Hasn't Ford said the Mondeo name is going away when it ends production next year?

Of course they could just call it the Mondeo Evos or the in the States the Fusion Evos

They said production of Mondeo is ending in Europe. The implication being that maybe the replacement won't be made in Valencia OR it will be made in Valencia but won't be called Mondeo. Up for interpretation of course.

And Farley had previously said Fusion name will be retained as a cave-in to dealers. So we'll see what name it will use here.
