Does the average driver know how painful it is to accelerate like that? It's not really fun unless you are adrenalin junkie. Kind of weird to see old guys in 700 hp Corvettes and 911 Turbo S's with physical bodies that can't handle those kind of g loads. Maybe why you don't see 70 year old Formula 1 drivers. rperez817
Motor Trend First Test Review of Model S Plaid. 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid First Test: 0–60 MPH in 1.98 Seconds*! (motortrend.com) " Although the 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid didn't deliver a sub-2.0-second 0-60 time on typical asphalt—at least not yet—it's no less of a striking achievement for the California-based automaker: The quickest car we've ever tested is a $150K five-seat sedan, not some multimillion-dollar, carbon-fiber-encrusted road missile. It's remarkably well rounded, exhibiting a combination of comfort, luxury, performance, and efficiency that remained a sci-fi fantasy in 2013 when we named the Model S the MotorTrend Car of the Year. Regardless of how much you care about acceleration numbers and how they're achieved, perhaps the most important takeaway is that the Model S Plaid is absolutely among the best cars on the market today." Harley Lover
More details of the spontaneously combusting Plaid: One of the first 250 Tesla Model S Plaid performance sedans “spontaneously combusted,” according to the attorney for the owner who claims to have been briefly trapped in the vehicle before being able to exit while the car was still moving. The incident adds to a growing list of safety concerns involving the California EV marker, NHTSA recently confirming that it has launched 30 separate investigations involving Tesla products. The latest incident occurred on June 29, when an unnamed owner of a Tesla Model S Plaid was driving through Haverford, Pennsylvania. The vehicle “spontaneously combusted,” according to one of the owner’s attorneys. The driver was briefly trapped inside and was able to finally exit even before it came to a complete stop. https://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2021/07/more-tesla-safety-trouble-as-model-s-plaid-bursts-into-flames/
