Pointing out the obvious, but still good marketing.

Thankfully for both GM and for society, GM's current marketing for electric vehicles is consistent and aligned to their corporate strategy. Definitely a refreshing change from the EV1 fiasco 20 years ago.

If FORD tries to go all electric with everything ,i dont think it will work out the way they think.

If Ford doesn't try to go 100% electric with their light duty vehicle lineup (maybe commercial vehicle too) , they won't exist by 2035.

If Ford isn’t 100% electric by 2035 it will be because that’s not what the market is demanding.

MFRs that are able to balance ICE and EV production during this transition will be the big winners.  There is too much money on the table to walk away from ICE too quickly.

I don't know anyone (except a politician) who thinks that towing 6000 lbs of RV, through the San Raphael Swell with nothing ahead or behind you for a few hundred miles powered only by Chinese batteries is a good idea.

Of course the long term Green New Deal means the Great American Road Trip is no longer possible.

More 'engineering by press release'. From the same company that will have "at least 20 all-electric vehicles by 2023." Of course that promise was made in October of 2017, but is anyone keeping track?  https://jalopnik.com/gm-joins-electric-revolution-and-plans-20-evs-by-2023-1819064357

Although Ford will likely have the majority of it's vehicle line EV by then I could easily see them being one of the few remaining automakers to still provide some choice between EV and ICE depending on the market and application. It's a bit premature to make such a declaration at this point.

The new GM corporate logo designed to look like an electric plug is pretty horrible though.

When it comes to the automotive industry's future, there will be no other baskets to hold the eggs. Automakers will either prepare for and embrace a future that's 100% electric cars, or be turned into omelets and eaten.

Does anybody really care what GM says?  They're just arrogant A-holes pulling a publicity stunt. And talk about flip-flopping.  They opposed California .... but once Biden was elected, here they are, the first to the trough to get in Biden's good graces for government money.  Sound familiar?

There are other ways to reduce/eliminate carbon other than the ev route.  This reminds me of the late 1970s/early 80s when all cars were supposed to be diesel by the end of the 1980s.

You think they would have waited at least a few months before kissing Emperor Biden's backside.  At least don't be so obvious.  We all know Barra is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but even she's not dumb enough to stop selling all those ECE pickups and SUVs.

Yes sir. In the case of GM's Carbon Neutrality pledge, their customers, employees, and investors care. Governments in all markets where GM does business care too. And GM's competitors also care. Mary Barra was serious when she said "We encourage others to follow suit and make a significant impact on our industry and on the economy as a whole."

This is no "publicity stunt". Carbon neutrality and the shift to 100% electric vehicles are key components of GM's long term business strategy.
