bzcat
The previous generation F-150 responder from 2018 was also pursuit rated. It's amazing how fast and how well these truck handle now compare to 20 years ago.
akirby
Our small city police dept has black Tahoes and Silverados while the county seems to be switching from Chargers to Explorers.
ANTAUS
My local PD went from Impala's to previous generation Explorers, then just currently bought 3 new Explorer's and just found out they will be going to Tahoe, supposedly it's $9K cheaper than the current Explorers for that dept. So they couldn't justify having to spend much more for Explorers.
probowler
We have a police F-150 at my work, but its a year or 2 old now, not one of these new pursuit-rated trucks. I love it. A beast in the snow, nicely featured, and seems like a durable interior. It was a huge upgrade over our previous 2000s F-250.

I would expect the Explorer to be considerably less with the 3.3l, especially in hybrid form.
ANTAUS
Thats what I asked, they do not have those numbers, I told them the V8s in the Tahoes will surely consume more gas. The Explorer they bought were the ST variety, instead of the 3.3L Hybrid, which made no sense to me either.
92merc
On the previous gen, the local sheriff's offices didn't like the PU because the 3.5EB consumed enough fuel they frequently had to fuel up that day twice. So they switched to the Tahoe's because Chevy started to sell an up-sized fuel tank. I would be curious to see what the range difference between the Hybrid PU and the previous gen. I'm sure my local police with love the hybrid. Not sure how the mileage will work out for sheriff's with more highway driving. And a lot of distance to fueling too. FordBuyer
Does Ford have a police pursuit rated Expedition? I have seen police Expeditions like Tahoes. I would think a police Expedition is more practical than a pickup.

Not pursuit rated, but a special service vehicle (SSV) https://www.ford.com/police-vehicles/ssv/ HRG
zgxtreme
While I’m now eye balling a Super Duty... the idea of a Responder with the interior upgrade package is enticing.

silvrsvt
It’s not like it won’t be hard to get on the second hand market if you want it bad enough

Not surprisingly, the most sought after Police units for many years were the Crown Victoria Police Interceptors but about 95% of those went straight to auction. zgxtreme
Unless you specifically want a bio hazard on wheels which has been driven as hard as possible under the watch of questionable mechanics... I’d stay far away from anything for sale at the end of its service life.
