Anthony
If we think most Bronco conquest sales will come from Jeep Wrangler owners..... How long until we start getting this? ?
silvrsvt
I’m sure the Bronco aftermarket folks are more then able to come up with their own ugly grills without copying the Wrangler ones ?

jpd80
Actually, one of the biggest interest groups was Mustang buyers but I’m sure that Bronco and Bronco Sport will pull from a wide audience. The issue for Jeep is that it now has a strong competitor to its Wrangler wit a built in supporter base ready to go, Ford has never had such an easy lay up, the fish are virtually jumping into the boat. Only Ford will screw this up for Ford.

It damn sure isn't GM and the Korean brands are MIA here. Land Rover maybe but they're more luxury than off-road these days.

This buyer is from across the lot on the Lincoln side of the house...but, I better get some confirmation of my order soon other than "unscheduled clean" or I may just stay on the Lincoln side of the house...they got plenty of them!

Some have trucks, some have SUVs and some probably have cars and crossovers. I think wrangler sales will take a small hit but not much. Bronco returning to Ford after so many years will draw in buyers from Ford and Jeep but also GM and other brand buyers who see Bronco as fresh product that appeals to them. Crazy things can happen when you add a new product like Bronco to the mix. 3 hours ago, Anthony said: A buyer from your own stable is not a conquest sale. ? Yes they are, that’s why it’s called internal conquest sales, you’re moving sales from an existing product to a new one. Thats OK when the new product is higher value/ higher profit and I’m sure that Ford will be watching this carefully. A great example of internal conquest sales is Toyota shifting a lot of Camry buyers to RAV4, it’s what people want so Toyota does it but keeps Camry for those who still prefer a car. Land Rover maybe but they're more luxury than off-road these days. Although Toyota has been getting away with selling basically the same 4Runner since 2009, they will make new models in response to Bronco, and a down-market Land Cruiser 300. They killed the FJ Cruiser just before demand for 4x4s picked up, and will likely want to get some of that market back. Although its still likely many Toyota buyers will only buy Toyotas. There are some rumors that Nissan may bring back an Xterra, since they still sell versions of it in other countries, and they could help Mitsubishi introduce one also. It's often said Subarus are driven off road as much or more than any other brand, and their sales have been strong.

Defender can be thrown in there as well, though it's price tag at the upper end can easily eclipse all 3 of the others.
FordBuyer
I would think that a lot of upscale people with 4-5 car garages will buy the Bronco as a weekend warrior only parked next to another weekend only specialty vehicle. Jeep Wranglers are not your everyday type vehicle, but it looks like the Bronco is a bit more refined and could pass as an everyday vehicle without the super aggressive off road tires. But that doesn't make it a good daily driver for comfortable, relaxing short and long trips. And for your passengers also in formal and informal settings. All of that is subjective and most of it is based on personal taste/preferences.

I've had new Wranglers since 2006 since a new Bronco never came out. Daily drivers and off-roading. LOTS of Wrangler Owners use them for both, as well as lots of Owners only use them for daily drivers. It's relative, the recent Wranglers are very comfortable daily drivers compared to the older ones. For sure not a Lexus but a very reasonable choice.

The reality is that Wrangler is a vehicle that people like to buy even if the rarely if ever go off road. There’s nothing wrong with buying more vehicle capability than you need, that’s how automakers make a lot of profit. ln that sort of role, Bronco’s better on road suspension is going play well to those buyers and to many buyers, it’s probably a better mix of abilities for your average buyer who occasionally goes off-road or only does moderate level off-road work.
