Yes, My 18 GT has a supercharger. Really wanted another factory Lightning. I prefer factory built.

Understood.  Just explaining why Ford doesn’t want to do one.  Raptor is far more successful.

Raptor is too heavy for performance. Street performance only needs a regular cab. RCSB 5.0 is much quicker than a Raptor on the street as is.  Zero interest in off roading at my age. BTDT. Lots of us Former Lightning owners was hoping for one more V8 generation.

You missed the point.  Ford performance can either do a Raptor or a Lightning and Raptor gets far more sales than a Lightning would, and probably higher ATPs to boot.  It’s a business decision.  Has nothing to do with performance.

If they are limiting themselves, yes. If the built them side by side, the street truck is the one I'd take everytime.

They have to limit themselves because they don't have unlimited resources especially with all the other Ford Performance initiatives.   Even using the existing GT500 powertrain there would be a lot of tuning and testing and new suspensions, etc.

Obviously there are a few buyers who would take the lightning over a Raptor but I'm guessing the take rate would be more like 100 Raptors for every Lightning.

Mostly all mall crawlers too. LOL.

My bet is it wont have the "pinned down" suspension of the prev Lightning....let alone Id lay $ it will be only avail in a Crewcab configuration

I bet it will outhandle the previous Lightning by a country mile.   One of the biggest advantages to BEVs is the extremely low center of gravity because of the batteries.  By all accounts the Mach-E handles just as well as the coupe.

Mach 1, Mach-E GT, GT350, GT500, Raptor and Bronco Warthog have determined that statement is not true.....

Yeah lets see...almost 32 years ago the only thing you had was a stripper Mustang GT (LX), a Mustang GT, a T-Bird Turbo Coupe, the Taurus SHO and an Escort GT.

And performance wise, a current day 2.0L Ecoboost Escape could give all of them a run for their money in a straight line....

Off road & mustangs yes. Nothing else.

Well to be fair they had Fiesta and Focus RS but nobody here bought them so now they're gone.

You really have to stop thinking in terms of what you and a few others might want and look at it from Ford's standpoint.   Are you willing to pay $150K for a factory lightning pickup?  Because that's probably what Ford would have to charge to pay for the development.

I paid $28,200 for a new 2000 Lightning. Today should be around $50K for a Factory built 5.0 Supercharged RCSB. I can certainly build one for less, but then it's a poser like the ones Pioneer Ford sells. Sad that  Ford caters to the redneck market, but makes no HP trucks for the urban driver. But with more than half the trucks sold in the south, I do understand why the Raptor is still here. I would never buy one. Maybe in 10 years the EV infrastructure will be there and an EV Lightning will make sense. By then it will be killed off forever again......

Regular cab anything is dead on arrival these days.  Very very few people want regular cabs.

I’ll try this one more time and then I’ll drop it.

The profit from selling a few thousand Lightnings would not even pay for the powertrain development, testing and tuning and epa certification.

Ford would not only lose money they would divert resources from other projects.

Explorer ST is close, but somehow 7 seats just doesn't say performance to me.

Leave the back 2 rows folded down, and pretend it's a mid-size pickup with a permanent cap,,,,

Hey, at least you can slide 48" wide sheets in.

Including a visit from President Biden at Ford HQ and at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.

Not a fan of the President’s politics, but I do appreciate him coming to a significant event in time for a historic American manufacturer.

Well said tbone sir. The President's visit next week transcends politics, as you mentioned it's great to have him participate in a big milestone for both Ford Motor Company and the USA.

Products like BEV F-150 Lightning have great potential to make U.S. based automakers leaders in a global automotive industry whose future will be defined by 100% electric vehicles. Go team USA!!
