Kory04
I have seen online that it is not that uncommon for people to buy a leather steering wheel from a Lariat and put on a lower trim truck. I see there are also heated steering wheels and wondering if anybody knows if those can be added to an XLT premium package truck. (comes with heated cloth seats). I assume the wheel would fit fine, but would my truck run the heat feature based on having the seat heat turned on, or is it a separate switch specifically for the steering wheel heat, and therefore a different wiring harness
cmk1981
I've never done it, but you can turn on the button in the infotainment via Forscan or other tools. I have watched this video and it doesn't look too hard. Change OE steering wheel
mattdm
Adding heat would be a fairly involved job i would imagine as the truck will not be wired for it. Otherwise the steering wheel swap is pretty straight forward. Just make sure you disconnect your battery(s) or have a way to clear the airbag light after you are done(forscan). chadstickpoindexter
It’s a bit more involved than just adding the button in Forscan. Check out this video:

I'll probably just install a basic leather one, If my truck ever gets built 8 minutes ago, mattdm said: Adding heat would be a fairly involved job i would imagine as the truck will not be wired for it. Thanks for the advice regarding the airbag lights.
Kory04
After a brief search of the necessary parts in the video, looks like its around $7-800 for the parts. More than I'm looking to have into it
