Twenty Years Later

Twenty years later they have their country back. They have modern airports. They have military BDU`s. They have M4`s, humvee`s, etc etc. There is a new level of evil in our world. 

 

There will be many opportunities for photo op’s in our future.

So many sad memories from that time. Seeing the images on television of the towers burning and then falling. Seeing the people in the plant's Oasis in stunned silence, where you normally saw polite banter and good natured conversation. Thinking about a family member travelling by plane that day and a nephew in NYC. (Both were OK thankfully) Knowing our then new president, G.W. Bush, was considered a foreign policy lightweight. (Joe Biden was then a US Senator with 28 years of service). Flash forward to the present and events in Afghanistan have me looking back to 2001, and to April 1975 and the fall of Saigon. Joe Biden, in a leadership position for both the past events can't see or comprehend the consequences of current actions. Doesn't require great extrapolation. Just observation of events that occurred while Joe held political power. Us common folk just have the experience of family and friends affected by 9/11, or realization that without a student deferment, might have been in Vietnam.

To your point paintguy, through many years we have been misguided as a nation for many reasons, some for something as simple as lack of ability. But like in our Ford facilities' and members of our governing body it`s moved on from misguided to completely lost in their own self fulfilling agenda`s.

There are reasons (unlearned reasons) to not leave spaces, especially in a certain corner of the world to become ungoverned. The Obama administration didn’t learn anything from Libya, until the terrorists that took over in the vacuum that the Obama administration help create, attacked our consulate in Benghazi and killed four of the Americans. The same administration failed to learn it so completely that they did the same thing in Iraq. Then the same individual that is on record as being against capping Ben Laden was urging, for the creating of another vacuum that then was filled by ISIS and motivated by our abandoning of the Sunni tribal leaders we had courted, leaving them to the Iranian-backed Shi’ites.

 

Does any of that sound at least a little familiar?  Afghan allies are connecting the dots, at least those who the Taliban haven’t already murdered.

 

Those are the unlearned lessons on foreign policy, that put in place the intentional failure we are witnessing currently. The same weakness, poor planning and the “I`m the President syndrome” are putting in place a failure that will surpass all the eight years of failures… combined. 

 

Need any proof of the current failure is on pace to become reality?

Osama bin Laden’s security chief has crawled out from under his rock and made his publicized return to his home province in... “Afghanistan”, cheered on by the crowds and under Taliban protection.

 

Twenty years of failure. And counting.

Iran held hostages for +400 days during Carter, they kicked them lose when Reagan was sworn in.

 

Biden abandoned a lot of people in Afghanistan with the well armed Taliban as travel agents.

What could go wrong ?
