twintornados
My main concern here is that GM will do to the EV movement in the 21st century what they did to the diesel movement in the late 70's and early 80's. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2021/08/21/chevy-bolt-recall-gm-replacing-lithium-ion-batteries-due-to-fire-risk/8231784002/ https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/unnerving-chevy-bolt-owners-want-162515050.html
rperez817
GM inadvertently did the EV movement a favor earlier in the 21st century when it abandoned the EV1 in 2003. The positive result was that Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded Tesla as a direct result of GM's decision. But GM lost its leadership position in BEV, something it is working very hard to restore nowadays. GM has its work cut out for it as it deals with the Chevy Bolt recall. As mentioned in both articles, actual risk of fires for Bolt specifically and for BEV in general is low. But GM's perception by the public, especially among people who are considering a Bolt or an Ultium powered BEV, may be damaged permanently if GM makes any missteps. There's no second chance for GM amid the ongoing revolution in the automotive industry.
