I keep forgetting to comment on this, but finally! All this time I have been wondering when I will see the P708 Super Duty testing, as it's supposed to be a 2023 model, but ehhh...

Hearing now about the next F-150, wonder what Ford has up their sleeves for the P708 replacement in 2028? Can EV be sustainable for the 2500 - 4500 segment, within the next 7 years? How about hybrids?

So, is this wearing production bodywork or is it testing with the current gen's bodywork? I genuinely can't tell lol.

Until you asked this question, I didn't really look closer, but this does recall the VERY, VERY first actual prototypes of the outgoing P558 in April 2015.

Ironically appeared right after this leak in March 2015 from a dealer conference.

Reveal was September 2015 at State Fair of Texas, Job 1 in July 2016 in Louisville, and on the sales floor by September 2016.

Prior to that, in 2014 and early 2015, all we got were spy shots of old body mules, based on the P473 SD.

These shots of the 2020MY MCA back in 2018, give an idea of the differences from the vehicle above.

Here are some more of larger examples.

Unlike the 2016 vs 2017, this reuses the same architecture, like the 2021 F-150, so it's easily too hard to differentiate for most guys I can imagine.

I hear the 6.2L is finally going to be dropped in 2023.  As for P708, I hear it might be going to a 'mixed' metal construction.

With magnesium in short supply, Ford may have to change things up a bit. However, steel costs have gone up faster than aluminum costs in past year..

Yes, but I have feeling the all aluminum bodied F series is costing Ford a lot of money.  Lots of warranty expense caused by wind/water leaks and poor panel alignment.  In addition, aluminum is still a lot more expensive than steel and they have to use more of it to maintain strength.  No real weight advantage compared to GM and Ram.  I am thinking advanced steel for the cab and bed, all moving panels aluminum alloy.  Might be able to get by with less magnesium that way too.  We'll see.

BTW- couldn't help but notice the Bronco and Ranger are mostly steel.....

I would guess that any redesign would replace the steel reinforcement with a poly carbonate material or even graphene.

Yes, but it won't happen for 2023...this is a refresh, not a redesign.

I could be wrong, but I don't expect any change that major for a refresh.
