I see the popularity of compact & midsize pickups as a response to a market that is growing tired of SUVs. As the market generally realizes that they really don't need that much cargo volume, enclosed or not, a resurgence of the coupe & sedan might take place; perhaps with roof cutouts on the doors and "barber shop "seats that elevate a foot or more to assist with ingress/egress for those of us that grew up in the Jet Age.?
