1999 White C5 Coupe
Ford has issued a safety recall for a large number of 2021 and 2022 F-150 pickup trucks, which involves a repair to prevent the vehicle’s driveshaft from fracturing: https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2021/12/27/ford-f-150-truck-driveshaft-recall/9022359002/
ChrisG
My experience with this recall has been more than frustrating. First took truck to dealer and dealer wanted to keep vehicle for 48 - 72 hrs but did not have a loaner available. I rescheduled for when they would have a loaner available. Dealer informed me that the insulators had damaged my drive shaft and that the drive shaft would need to be replaced, this was on 3/7, and that the drive shaft was on current backorder with NO ETA.... Dealer to their credit has called me weekly go give the parts availability updates. The info that the dealer has conveyed to me is that Ford had indicated the drive shaft would be available on 4/4, that changed to 4/11, now I am being told 4/22. At this point, I have ZERO confidence that the drive shaft will become available any time soon and I will not have access to my vehicle during this time. Beware when turning in your truck for this recall.
FreeFlow
At the very least Ford should compensate you by providing reimbursement for loss of use i.e. rental car and/or prorated payment if the vehicle is financed.
