2022 Super Duty Orders & Discussion

Recommended Posts

Received my FIRST email correspondence from Ford this morning stating F250 Lariat CC SRW has been scheduled for week of July 25, 2022.

Ordered 12-09-2021 and confirmed with Ford Marketing 2/2022.

Carbonized Grey, Lariat Ultimate, 7.3, FX4, BAP, 3.55, Upfitter, Universal Garage & Rain-sensing wipers

I never made any changes to the order even with the 'ebb & flow' of commodity constraints.  "Track My Order" option, using the provided VIN, shows the additional Tremor option.

Up-sale shannanigons, data entry error or just wait until the Window Sticker is available for comparison to my signed Preview Order?

My truck just showed up on Chapman's website. Must be getting pretty close to built.  It's also listed for $11,200.00 over the window sticker.  Good thing I'm getting it for 3% below invoice.  Really hoping not to get hosed on the trade in.

that’s my worry also with my trade in.

Carmax/KBB offer wasn't terrible, so i could go that route if needed.  I have another dealer nearby that wants to look at it too, so I have options.  My current truck is in very good shape.  Interior looks brand new.  Paint is probably an 8/10, new brakes probably 30-40k left in the tires 6.7L with 108,000 miles on it. Hate to lose the tax break on the trade, but we'll see how the numbers go.

I've never dealt with Chapman before, but they've been responsive to all my inquiries so far with screen shots from the VVR etc....

Let us know how this goes. I took delivery of my 250/7.3 two weeks ago and am looking to place an order with Chapman in October for a MY23. I also anticipate getting a better price from Carmax than Chapman on my MY22, even when factoring in the tax savings.

Trade-in, according to KBB is about $70K so I'd be sitting pretty based on my buy price of $60k.

My Limited has landed!  Ford said to expect delivery between July 3 and 13 and it showed today.  At the suggestion of the dealer I removed 5th wheel prep back in January.  Not sure it impacted my build date but that is one option I wanted and need. Will go to B&W in the aftermarket for that.  She’s dirty but that is at my request. I don’t want them scratching up my new paint. I will do a paint decon and then get some ceramic on her.

Unfortunately, as many others have reported, my dealership did zero to keep me informed since my order in Dece, beer. I was responsible for not only requesting monthly updates, but but to inform them of price protection, X-plan max $100 doc fee, and honoring a PCO that came in after I placed my order. Huge shout out to the moderators and the members. I was only able to be that well informed based on what I have learned here.

As the industry moves to a new model of order what you want, dealerships and sales staff who learn to regularly check in with their clients on status updates will set themselves apart from those dealers who just sit back and wait for someone else to walk through the door.

And yes, I have multi-contour seats.

Will they honor the PCO for your truck ? Had it expired? I have one for my truck that is showing to deliver after the PCO expires . Of course its just a estimate delivery for the 2 nd time .

Didn't you negotiate a trade-in price prior to ordering the truck?

When the truck arrives, the dealer has the upper hand in the negotiation.

Yes.  Mine expired 4/22.  When it arrived I reached out to the sales manger to see if it was in his system. He confirmed it was and said it would be applied at the time of sale. Between then and April, he left the dealership.  The finance manager would not honor it and once they hired a new sales manager I reached out to him. He called and said there was nothing he could do because it expired. I then reached out to the regional rep and after some checking, he said it would be honored. Note that I had email documentation from the first sales manager stating it would be honored and that may have played onto the ultimate decision to give it to me.

The PCO is pretty clear to me “order or take delivery by 4/22”.  The regional rep said they would honor it given all the delays but I think they should honor it based on the language on the PCO mailer.

Ordered 20Dec21 F-350 Tremor Platinum. No VIN as of today but also understand a wide arrange of considerations going into it.  I am a priority 2 and have no known commodity holds (5Wp, AS, Bedliner).  Was told today I had a make ready letter and a note saying they are waiting on a camera for the Ultimate Tow (standard on the platinum).   What is a make ready letter and does a priority 2 mean anything in todays allocation casino?   Appreciate the help.

As I write this post, I am still scheduled for production the week of 27 June, next week.  (However, I still dread a late email pushing me back, again.)  I understand that the window sticker should be viewable between 1 to 7 days prior to production, but my window sticker still has not populated.  I am leaving for international business travel tomorrow and will be gone for 4 weeks.  If the truck gets built and delivery beats my expectation, it could arrive before I return. My dealer says they will not sell my truck out from under me if they have to hold it for some time until my return.  Needless to say, I’m getting a little anxious something will not go well. What timeframe are others seeing as far as window sticker availability?

As I sit at the train station in London, my window sticker showed up. I’m still on the lookout for a Super Duty navigating the narrow streets of London ?

Just curious, as I may have a similar situation... how did you find contact information for the regional manager?

Contact information for the Ford Zone Manager is never released. Issues and/or questions are submitted by the Dealer through phone or e-mail communications to the Ford Zone Manager or other regional office personnel, but in 35 years, I can't remember a time when a Ford representative had direct contact with a customer. Ford is very good at insulating its staff, to the point that Dealers often have to submit requests for assistance on a matter via online forms because no phone contact is allowed or available.

No dealer I've ever purchased from would provide a firm trade-in value for a deal that was 6 months out.  The trade could have another 30,000 miles on it in that time frame.  I'm not overly concerned about the trade value, there are plenty of options for direct sale if the trade isn't great.

I ordered in August 2021 and my dealer guaranteed the trade-in whenever the new truck arrived. It also wasn't a low-ball offer, since this was about the 10th vehicle I have purchased from the same Sales Manager. Prior to signing the order, I knew to the cent how much I owed when the truck finally arrived 8 months later.

Once I add the sales tax savings, I got as good of a deal with the trade-in than I could selling privately.

So called up ford after my dealers salesmen called ( 1 st time in 4 months)

that he is moving away and someone will call me about my truck order

he said it’s still clean and unscheduled just like for the past 10 months

I asked ford if my order is still ok

they said the maverick and f450 are clean and unscheduled

funny thing I never ordered a maverick ?

asked also If it does not get built if price pretection would apply to 23

she said to ask dealer

basically she was useless and said go to dealer ask dealer up to dealer

so frustrated because tried to with dealer just got vague answers and they said  it’s ford???

A bit of good news. F450 finally arrived. Ordered 10/25/2021. F450, King Ranch, Rapid Red. Fully loaded, even got massaging seats, deployable running boards, bed liner etc, etc. Arrived June 23rd, 2022. Eights months.  I know Ford does everything it can with all the issues, and the wait was soooooooo with it.

Simple... Dealership ordered the Maverick using the same order number.

To clarify - dealers often use order number to identify the salesperson so it’s quite common to have the same number on multiple vehicles.  Ford doesn’t care.

Stupid. There's no need or excuse to use duplicate order numbers. Orders can be differentiated by using alpha-numeric order numbers with a letter designation for the sales representative followed by different 3-digit numbers to identify individual orders.

Our dealership used a spreadsheet that listed every retail and fleet order listed by order date, order number, customer name, sales representative, year and model, deposit amount and order status. The spreadsheet was updated daily as part of a management report showing all pending deals reviewed in a weekday morning (Monday - Friday) management meeting with all department heads at 9:00am.

The order numbers were coded as follows.

  • Retail = R001, R002, R003, etc.
  • Fleet = F001, F002, F003, etc.
    • H001, H002, H003, etc. (Fleet = Town of Hamden)
    • Y001, Y003, Y003, etc. (Yale University)
    • N001, N002, N003, etc. (Town of North Haven)

This made it very easy to identify the different order types and customers in the different Ford reports and the order numbers used were consecutive and never reused. Stock orders used only a 4-digit order number (1234) that could also be coded if necessary.
