Was I supposed to get a door key on 2022 Nautilus? Driver door has a lock with key slot.

Just curious why wife's new 2022 Nautilus has what appears to be a door lock, looks like it has one, but she didn't get an actual key. Sure....she doesn't really need one....she can open door with FOB or combo lock on side. But strange Ford would put a lock there for no purpose. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks...no one told me that. And I have been all over the digital owners manual. And the simple one they provided me.

There is literally a blurb in the Nav manual called "Removing The Key Blade". Check page 77 in your manual. It is not labeled but it is in the changing a battery section.

Next to the hole for a key ring is a button, push that and slide the bottom of the fob off.  It forms a handle with the attached key blade.  That's for the doors, there's a spot somewhere inside the cabin where you can set the fob down if the fob battery dies, so you can still start the car.

UNLOCKING THE DOORS

Note:   When the doors have been unlocked using this method, the doors must be locked individually until the central locking function has been repaired.
