Plato
Applied for a job as a Stationary Steam Engineer, does anyone know what the scheduling is for this type of position? Or any other relevant info? Edited May 7, 2022 by Plato
paintguy
Which facility? Ford has a number of AWS (alternative work schedules). Steam Engineer work is usually some form of 24/7 scheduling. Many Ford facilities eliminated steam some time ago. Existing people in the classification were retrained to other roles and retained the pay rate. At CAP, some became HVAC/refrigeration techs. If you really enjoy steam work, might want to ask about the longer term prospect for steam at the facility. In any case to maintain operation, even near term, Ford would have to have someone with the appropriate cert or seal to operate legally. Plato
Buffalo stamping plant. They definitely have boilers there, pretty big ones from what I hear. Other than that though the place is a big mystery in the stationary engineer community. Just looking for any info anybody might have. Much appreciated. Plato
Ok, but what type of schedule? 8 or 12 hr? Rotations?
intheloop
8hr non rotating shift but most of the time we are in 4 hours early or 4 hours over but were very short staffed because we fill in the retired positions.
