By the time they get around to building mine, they will have removed all of the features I specifically wanted. Perhaps I will cancel my order, and just look nationwide for something else.

That seems to be Fords mode of operation lately.  Pay more, get less. It’s not a good trend.

Except how much of it is Ford offering the hotspot functionality as a value-added feature for the owner of the vehicle...

The hotspot isn’t a loss in my opinion.  My current phone plan allows me to share my phone as a hot spot.  My kids are happy.  Beyond the wifi hot spot trial I’ve never activated it, or used it.

I actually used it, and I'm still under the first year subscription. During long trips, one full-time college student would use the car Wi-Fi, the other adult logged in to work through the phone's mobile hotspot. This helped tremendously for the once-monthly trip for medical treatment that was very far away.
