rperez817
Looks like the Ford+ plan to accelerate the company's transition to the "new world" of the automotive industry is paying off. Ford now ranks as America’s second best-selling EV brand behind just Tesla Ford grew more than 3 times the rate of the overall electric vehicle segment in July E-Transit leads the electric van space with 95 percent of the electric van segment Ford Pro Software is growing rapidly with global paid telematics subscriptions growing over 40 percent sequentially for each of the last two quarters

ExplorerDude
A fantastic month for sure! It’s a nice change of pace to see Ford rise above so many competitors. The Bronco family alone put nearly 18,000 units on the road. However those headlines are pumped up a bit when it comes to electric vehicles. While yes, sales are growing finally - we still only sold 7,699 BEVs (MME, F-150 Lightning and eTransit). That’s only 4.6% of the 163,000 total. akirby
Still shy of the 2015-2019 market share but with a much better product mix, ATPs and margins. And future proof with hybrids and BEVs. Very solid performance. Imagine what results would be without those warranty costs……

Good point ExplorerDude about the small proportion of BEV compared to total vehicle sales at Ford in July 2022. The key thing is that Ford Model e is a growth business. If Ford can sustain this kind of growth for Model e while applying a "managed decline" strategy for Ford Blue, it may achieve 95% BEV, 5% ICE powered vehicle sales proportion in the U.S. by the start of the next decade. Maybe even earlier. Edited August 3, 2022 by rperez817

rperez817
Ford put out a press release today about F-150 Lightning customer deliveries now encompassing all 50 U.S. states. Nearly 80 percent of early reservation holders said in a survey that F-150 Lightning will be the first full EV in their household. That record could diminish customer loyalty for Ford, particularly "conquest" customers who have never owned a Ford product before. However, there is reason to be optimistic about the impact of Ford's quality issues. IHS Markit awarded Ford "Highest Overall Loyalty to Make" earlier this year, marking 12 consecutive years that Ford earned that award. In that period, Ford had numerous botched new product launches and all kinds of quality issues. Ford owners seem to be forgiving. Mustang Mach-E 1st year reliability rating by Consumer Reports was better than average in 2021. I think this is the first time in the past 10 years that a newly introduced Ford rated that high in its 1st year. So maybe Ford is actually making some progress with quality. It will be interesting to see results for both Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning in 2022 (Consumer Reports should come out with those ratings in October or November 2022). 7Mary3
Big improvement overall from last year, but Mustang and Lincoln sales are disappointing, I figure the Mustang sales are off at least in part due to buyers waiting for the new model. 'Ford Blue' will be under considerable pressure to maximize profits so expect many poor performing products to be dropped over the next few years.

.I.
The Mustang ICE has the hours counted. Will be an only EV vehicle soon than planned. Maybe 2028 will be the last year for an ICE Mustang. I want to know which color will be the last V8 Mustang. What Ford will do with this car? Direct to the museum? Or action for charity? In 6 years we will know it.

That's correct 7Mary3, this is inevitable. In the next 4 years, the Ford Blue product lineup is expected to shrink, probably dramatically. Jim Farley mentioned that the transition to BEV in the global automotive industry is "going much faster than all of us forecasted", and that "mass adoption" of BEV in the U.S. market will occur in the 2023 to 2026 timeframe. Well they have the top hat and platform already so an EV coupe would be really easy. But Mustang is an icon and I think Ford will keep it a long time even with minimal sales. Especially since the powertrains are shared with trucks.

Ford is probably working on design and engineering of BEV Mustang Coupe and Convertible now, especially with competition in the BEV muscle car segment coming from General Motors and Stellantis in the next 2 - 3 years.
