jpd80
Well, this is what Jim Hackett wanted back in 2018, it’s finally here…almost. Judging by ID4’s price this Ford utility should be well under Tesla Y and Mach E

Judging by ID4’s price this Ford utility should be well under Tesla Y and Mach E Will it have similar range in order to compare directly? Range at expense of added cost for batteries is still an issue, though getting better. ID4 range at 70 MPH was reported around 230 miles, which means recharging on long trips every +/- 140 miles, or every 2 hours of driving. For local trips that’s more than enough range, but many Americans may find that limiting for road trips. Winter conditions will limit even more. New SUV reported range of 500 km (311 miles) is pretty good but EPA rating may be less, and real-world 70 MPH highway driving even lower.
Chrisgb
Range anxiety is morphing into charge time angst. 300+ mile range is acceptable in many cases, but at around two hours for a full level 3 charge is inconvenient for a cross country trip.
DeluxeStang
Said it in another thread, but I think we're possibly looking at the final design for this clay model. While it's obviously covered, you can get a basic idea of the overall shape and some of the key lines like the one flowing under the beltline. Should be quite good looking. The of the main reasons Hackett signed up to MEB was that VW could supply the batteries. So this is basically an ID4 with a squarer Ford designed top hat. Range and performance should be similar to ID4. Let’s hope that Ford can build it more efficiently than VW….. bzcat
Ford will actually sell two versions of this car so one is more like ID3 and the other perhaps a bit smaller than ID4. The sport crossover will replace Focus and compete with cars like ID3 and Renault's new Megane which is EV only. As well as Stellantis' new crop of C-segment EVs under all the various brands. The midsize crossover will agument Kuga which will become PHEV only in Europe by 2025.

Yes, Kuga,Tesla Y, RAV4, ID4, sized so perfect for the heart of the market and if the Focus sized the companion crossover has a good looking body, Ford will have lower cost competitors to the Y and 3. I hope this kills VW inside to know that these Fords will be built far more efficiently. Ending Fiesta at Cologne now makes the entire process much simpler, I couldn’t believe early plans to keep it going. couple the above with Puma EV and Ford has three passenger segments covered along with eTransit and Mach E. The future suddenly looks brighter for Ford Europe, especially with potential exports to ROW markets.
