I think that’s The old F150 shifter

The lever itself maybe but the bezel is different for sure. I don’t think the F-150 ever had an electric parking brake.

Which version of the old f-150 had a console shifter? I don’t remember. My friend who I carpool with has the column shifter in his 2018.

Traditional shifter that looks like it was pulled out of my Flex.

Actually that shifter is pulled right out of my 2022 Ranger. Same exact handle and boot. Ironically that larger overbuilt shifter probably costs more to put in it then the small electronic one.

After watching some videos, here are a few things I noticed. Sorry if this has been said before, the website keeps having errors so haven’t read everything.

1. No rear AC vents in any trim so far

2. Bedside step is optional

3. push button start only on lariat and above

4. new shifter only on lariat and above

5. No moonroof for fuzzy

6. Doesn’t have the incorporated keypad in the door and instead has one of the stick on ones above the handle

7. Some of the switchgear still looks like it’s from my 2013 fusion, mainly some of the buttons on the doors and the non electronic shifter.

8. I usually like painted bumpers on trucks, but on this truck it makes it look cheap. Im assuming the sport package comes with the black accents on the grille and wheel arches that are shown on the white xlt and that looks pretty good.

9. Chrome package looks bad. Chrome isn’t my thing to begin with but if you are going chrome, you really need chrome bumpers. It just doesn’t work on this truck and the chrome wheels look a bit generic. Like the chromed some XL wheels.

I know that sounds like a lot of negative, but we all know most of the positives already. Xlt sport is growing on me, hopefully the lariat comes with the sport package as well, as it seems like there are lots of trade offs if you don’t go lariat.

1 and 5 are issues for me. I'm pleasantly surprised at 3 engines choices. I thought they'd keep the 2.3 and put the 2.7 in the Raptor. The 3.0 will sell a lot of Raptors.

We'll have to wait for the official specs, but as I understand it, the non Raptor models gain two inches in wheelbase by moving the front axle forward, thus creating a slightly larger cabin . The shocks are now mounted outside the frame rails, allowing a wider interior box, 48 inches between the wheel wells, while keeping overall width close to the 5G's. i think the overall effect is to build a bigger, more usable truck while maintaining nearly the same footprint. Maybe there will be a nexus in 2030 when the Ranger becomes the F-150 and the Super Duties continue at their present size and capacities. The "redheaded stepchild"comes into its own, finally.

You read it here first.

Front wheels were moved forward to allow for Hybrid. Suspension moved outboard to fit a euro-pallet.

Take a look at the reviews of the RoW model (esp. the Oz reviews) and they explain it really well.

Part of the reason for some of the changes was the platform sharing agreement with Volkswagen, whereby they had certain requirements before they'd sign the deal.

I just don't see the appeal of a small "rugged" truck. Make the larger trucks super capable, and beefy. Make the smaller trucks more car like and refined. The Ford Maverick is more than rugged and capable enough for the kinds of things most small truck owners need it for. If someone isn't satisfied by the maverick or sante Cruz tow ratings or off-road ratings, that's what the ranger is for.

OK, I can respect your opinion, and vehicle preferences.  Mine just happen to be different, though that doesn’t mean either of us is wrong, or that one is better than the other — just different.  I don’t necessarily associate rugged with large, or small with car-like and refined.  Obviously, if a buyer wants to tow a 30,000-pound trailer, they need a large Diesel Super Duty.  Below that, there’s a lot of middle ground.

I’m certain Ranger size has a lot to do with Ford profitability, which doesn’t mean that any one person will prefer it.  For me, it is larger than I’d want if I were looking for a pickup.  I value small things as long as they meet my needs.  The present Ranger reminds me of the Dodge/RAM Dakota, which I felt was larger and more expensive than the smaller Ranger XLT I purchased in the 90s.  Trucks have changed and evolved, but principles remain the same for me.  I’d want the smallest and most fuel efficient  truck that met my needs.  Same goes for cars, vans, etc.

F150 is huge especially when it comes to garages and public parking.  I have about 4 inches to spare in my garage which means to go to the other side I have to open the door.  Ranger gives me 20 inches more space.  I like more ruggedness regardless of size.  It’s all just personal preference though there are no rules.

I will add that the soft grille on the current Ranger was a non starter for me.

Yeah it was too car like for the NA market.

The Bronco has the same limitation-I think it has vents under the seats.

The switch gear doesn't bother me at all-I kinda like the familiarity of it to a point in the past.

Speaking of switchgear-The steering wheel is identical to the Bronco in shape, but going by the dash shot before, they changed the switch gear on the steering wheel for some reason! To be honest, the Cruise control switches where identical in location from my 1986 Escort GT to my 2006 Mustang GT. It changed on the SHO I had and changed again on the Bronco.

"The standard single-range electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESF) four-wheel-drive system can be upgraded to a part-time system with low range."

They are really going to make you pay more to get a low range in the transfer case? You have to be kidding me.

Let's hope MT doesn't know what they are talking about.

I like it, but's it's getting closer to an F-150.

It might look bigger, but the new Ranger is just a bit wider (mostly due to the flared fenders) and taller than the last Ranger. It's still much smaller than an equivalent F150 SuperCrew.

2023 Ranger SuperCrew
Length: 210.8 in
Width: 73.3 in
Height: 71.5 in

New 2024 Ranger SuperCrew
Length: 210.6 in
Width: 75.5 in
Height: 74.4 in

2023 F150 SuperCrew w/ 5.5ft box
Length: 231.7 in
Width: 79.9 in
Height: 77.2 in

I think most people would consider a 21.1-inch difference in length and a 4.4-inch difference in width big enough.

Not necessarily too big, but I think it will take more sales away from the F-150.  And I know what a Maverick is.

Unfortunately as I see it, a significant segment Ford has to compete in.  May lead to one F series line..elimination of a separate F-150????

Why would it take sales away from the F-150? The Ranger is slightly more practical, but what it boils down to is people want bigger and better, even if they don't really use it.

Not to mention overall Ranger production will be less then 150-100K units a year depending on the Bronco, which would most likely get more production time then the Ranger due to demand.

Ranger debuted in 2019 with 89K sales.  Here are F series sales:

2017 896k

2018  906K

2019 896k

I don’t think F series lost any market share but it’s hard to tell just looking at sales volume post Covid.

I think Ranger could easily hit 150k without constraints and I don’t see F series dropping that much.
