Now THIS is a New Book

The WSJ on Friday previewed a new book by Bill Morris.  "The Lions Finally Roar:  The Ford Family, the Detroit Lions, and the Road to Redemption in the NFL".

 

Reading the review, looks like the writer goes into a lot more than the story of the Lions but rather..."we learn much about the palace intrigues inside Ford Motor Co.,especially those of 

William Clay Ford, who ran the club from 1961 to 2014."...."Mr. Morris also  gives readers a decent history of the automobile industry from its heyday in the 1950's to the beginnings of struggles in the 1970's."

 

I just might just buy this before it ends up in Costco or BJs at half the price😎

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to pick this book up.  I can recall the last time the Lions won the championship....1957.  Reading the backstory of the William Clay Ford ownership years should be interesting.  I do know he put his foot through the TV screen once, because the Lions lost some game.  When he passed, his wife Martha assumed ownership (and did a terrible job).  Now daughter Shiela owns the Lions and has absolutely turned the team around.  The entire state of Michigan is now behind this team.

Yes...hopefully next game will not be a nail biter like Sunday game😎

Had to be tough for William Clay being the junior guy to the Deuce who I would imagine had an attitude that said.."stick to your football team and don't bother me!"
