akirby
I’d love to hear what RJ would have to say about the ‘Ring…….. 😎
ZanatWork
Did the GTD's official 'Ring time ever get published? I've been watching, but may have missed it....

I never saw them get a clean maximum pace lap in, but they might have snuck that in past the cameras.

The target is Mercedes AMG One at 6:30. So yeah, sub 7 is pretty much a given.

Well 6:45 is pretty near 6:30. My guess is 6:50 but it has some pretty trick suspension and aero stuff so who knows.

For instance, going from a 10 minute lap time to an 9 minute lap time is a lot easier than going from an 8 minute lap to a 7 minute lap. Sherminator98
The Ford Mustang GTD is now the fastest American car around the Nürburgring Wild pony car manages 6m 57.6s run, and Ford reckons it could go even faster.
akirby
I don’t like the whole “fastest American car” thing when the Germans are significantly faster. They should have just left it at sub 7 minute which is a great accomplishment.

DeluxeStang
The fact that we saw this car do a sub 7 minute lap in subpar conditions and people are still bitching about it kinda pisses me off. I'm talking about the mustang 7g site where all these people are like "Well, it's not that impressive". I'm sorry, what?
DeluxeStang
People think the zr1 is gonna be faster when the ZO6 was going around a 7:10 and the GTDs true lap time is in the 6:40s most likely. But it is quite likely that Ford is at least considering a mid-engine mustang right now if they want to get even faster than the GTD in the future. akirby
Oh they’re definitely sandbagging at least a little bit. They only got 4 tries. Probably waiting to see what Chevy does. Wouldn’t it be cool if the vette did 6:45 and the GTD did 6:40 the next day?

blksn8k2
So did Ford ever race at the 'Ring with the GT and if so what kind of lap times did it run?

I don’t think they did but even if they did it wouldn’t matter. In race trim they’re limited to 400-500 hp.
Captainp4
6:57 on a wet track is pretty impressive. Looking forward to more
