DeluxeStang
To go from a lackluster and depressing first season to this, winning the first race of the season, and the other mustang coming in third. Talk about a turn around. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for this season. Edited January 26 by DeluxeStang
akirby
Great job Ford racing! TV coverage was poor with only the beginning few hours and the last 1.5 hours on tv - the rest was on peacock premium only. But at least they actually showed the GTD pro class a lot this year as opposed to LeMans last year where they only showed the prototypes. And Corvette takes GTD. ‘Murica!

I enjoyed the in-car cameras that ran full time on the IMSA website, both in the #64 Mustang and the #3 (I think) Corvette. Back in the mid-80's, went to what was then called the SunBank 24 at Daytona, slept in the back of my Ranger pickup. Hit a heckuva snow/ice storm in GA on the way back home. DeluxeStang
It was looking a little dicey in the final minutes, the 2nd place Corvette kept closing up a ton in the braking zones. I was worried they would either gonna pass, or crash into the mustang with how aggressive they were being. But in the end, Ford pulled through. I tried those and it said only available on peacock. Maybe I was in the wrong place. Love that track in Gran Turismo. Might have to do a few races tonight. BTW what happened to the Ferraris? Non competitive and they switched away from the 458/488.

My current mustang of choice is a gt 350 with the 1,400 hp engine swap, detuned to about 1,200 hp. It's a handful, but fun.
GearheadGrrrl
Great to see Mustang and Corvette win despite the BMW teams's unsportsmanlike blocking! Proof again that America can deliver higher performance at lower cost, though the Euro brand's fanboys are probably kinda depressed now... morgan20
Roger Penske is standin' tall! Today's race marks Porsche Penske Racing's second consecutive Rolex 24 at Daytona victory. Penske's other teams in IRL and NASCAR also had back to back wins last year at the Indy 500 and NASCAR Cup Series Championship
GearheadGrrrl
Standing tall is easier when Toyota doesn't show and Ford isn't competing in GTP. None the less, another great win for Penske!

I'd imagine they'd do something with the supra, if they aren't racing against mustang and Corvette, that's a huge missed opportunity. As for the top hypercar/prototype classes, rumors are swirling that Ford is strongly considering entering into those.

The Lexus RCF finished in 11th place in GTD pro which also included entries from Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, Mercedes, Aston Martin and Corvette. Nice try though.

I was talking mostly about the GTP class, Toyota was competitive but did not enter. Toyota has also been competitive with the Supra in GT3 which is similar to IMSA's GTD class as well as with the Lexus RCF.
ZanatWork
I was really happy for this victory, as I remember watching Roush Capris, Mustangs, Merkurs, and Cougars for years in Trans Am and GTO. With Ford possibly eyeing the prototypes, it makes me nostalgic for the old days of Mustang GTP and Probe entries.
