pinkteacup
I have a 2010 fusion hybrid. Today it started dinging (the 'do,do,do!' Sound it makes to let you know you left the keys in the ignition) after I opened the door. The keys were definitely in my hand, the lights were on auto(as they always are) and it was definitely in park. There was no new error message on the dash-in fact, the dash turned off right away, it usually stays on for 30 seconds. Thankfully it stopped when I closed the door, so hopefully the battery isn't dead when I wake up tomorrow. Does anyone know what it could be? One thought is to check the ignition switch to see if it is hanging up slightly stuck in (even after you take the keys out). I have had that one or twice in the past with previous vehicles. If/when this occurs again, push the switch in a few times with your finger to see if it pops out to where it should be with the keys out. If it is not that, then it may be a worn ignition switch itself, or other issues, and you may need to have this professionally diagnosed. I am sure others will jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.
