Explorer Tremor coming soon

My biggest issue with the refresh is that the grill should've tapered inward to be narrower at the bottom - it's too rectangle, IMO.

I like it better then the previous gen. It looks more "trucky" since its more vertical then the older grill. I noticed that in person and it doesn't translate well in photos.

I agree that it's better overall, I think a slight nip in width at the bottom would make it even better.  But either way, it definitely looks like a completely different vehicle than before, not a minor refresh.

I expect this to use the Chinese Timberline from clip otherwise this is a hardly anything to get excited about.  That model is distinctive and very nice looking.

I also think they need the 400hp V6 option for the Tremor.  It would make it a more interesting proposition.   I would likely consider it if it had that motor.

I'm not a fan of the front end of that-it seems too "crossoverly" vs what an Explorer is normally supposed to be-you saw that with the 2010 and the big changes that happened to it with the restyle-they made it closer to an F-series/truck like instead of a crossover.

Ford Explorer Tremor Will Not Debut At 2025 New York Auto Show

Title says it all.

Ford/Lincoln don't have a press conference scheduled for NY.

God forbid they show anything interesting at an auto show, where all kinds of potential buyers might be lurking.  People who might not typically be looking at Fords.  It’s not like they have demonstrated proficiency at reveals during their own independent reveals so they really aren’t competing with other brands for attention.

Auto shows have been dying in general (though i still love them), so I don't necessarily have a problem they're not debuting anything at the show......but the problem is, they're not debuting anything, period.

The Internet and social media have rendered auto show inroductions useless.  You get far more publicity from a standalone dedicated reveal either live and/or on social media when nothing else is going on.

Well, you also get 0 publicity if you don't debut anything, which is Ford's latest tactic 😛

I’m not disputing this is true, but I wonder if there are any stats to prove it. I feel like people who aren’t into the auto industry aren’t going to pay attention to reveals anyway so the only people paying attention to Ford reveals are people who are into Fords.  Alternatively, and an auto show, you may at least get those that are into the other brands to pay attention to yours.

Common sense says if there are 6 or 7 product reveals on the same day or two then they are all being covered by the media at the same time and Ford is competing with the other 5 or 6 for attention.   Whereas if they do a standalone reveal they’re the only big thing being reported that week.  Once it goes on sale it will be at the auto shows for those customers who buy that way but the average consumer only knows what they see on tv or see driving down the road.

Eh, its ok. I just don’t like the shape of the grille on the 25’s. There’s something about it that seems off. I feel like the timberline was differentiated a bit more from the regular explorers than this is.

Just give us the Everest tremor already!

Instead, Ford takes the bold approach of just not revealing anything, ever.  lol

Here’s a positive move by Ford, and in my opinion will help elevate the Tremor to a more premium model.

Agreed, nice to see it has the option.

Also makes you wonder why something like Lobo didn't get a low hanging fruit actual performance option.

Yes, it’s an interesting question.  Apparently they didn’t want to push it over to Ford Performance, effectively making it just an appearance package. I suppose people can throw a Ford Performance supercharger on it to gain the engine performance, but it would have been nice if Ford had done something from the factory, such as the 3.5L HO. the powertrain and exhaust was available from the Raptor so it would have been pretty easy to do.

Speaking of the 3.5L HO, I think it’s time for an upgrade to that motor.  It’s been 450hp for a long time and the motor is obviously capable of more.  The Ram 3.0L HO is at 540hp so I see no reason why they can’t boost the 3.5 to at least match that.

Yeah, but nobody over at Dod....err, RAM wants the 3.0L HO since it is not a HEMI.

2026 Ford Explorer Tremor Officially Debuts

Headlining its long list of features is its off-road-tuned suspension, which offers a one-inch lift compared to the rest of the Explorer line, allowing for improved approach and departure angles. Unique springs and sway bars help keep the ride smooth over rugged terrain, while skid plates both up front and in the rear protect the underbody from errant rocks and other obstacles on the trail.

The 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor rides on a set of 18-inch wheels wrapped in tough all-terrain tires. A Torsen limited-slip differential helps increase traction in slippery conditions, while a set of high-intensity off-road LED lights up front cut the darkness. It’s also fitted with a set of front recovery hooks, which match the rest of the crossover’s electric spice-painted accents.

Buyers have two options when selecting a powerhouse for their 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor. The first is the standard turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost I4, rated for 300 horsepower. The second – as exclusively reported by Ford Authority not too long ago – is the twin-turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost V6, good for 400 horses.

Perhaps, but that doesn’t make it a bad motor. It is interesting how Rams tanking sales corresponded with the discontinuation of the Hemi.

To be fair, they also finally discontinued the older, cheaper classic model, so that may have affected sales too.
