Ford decided its recall count for the year was too low.......but at least it's nothing crazy.

Still, there are three real time mirrors for back up. Pun intended.

Are rear view cameras a requirement? Why do they offer them? A Federal safety law?  I don't need them; I have eyes and mirrors..

Yes, they have been for years now.

Till you accidently run over someone in your blind spot-which was one of the driving forces with this

I recall a story where someone backed out of their garage and ran over their daughter who was in the driveway sunbathing- Rear view cameras cover the area directly under your license plate or bumper area, where rear view mirror or side mirrors have a blind spot.

To add, I believe one story was from a well known football player.  All these items are to "assist" not to "rely" on, yes there are traditional ways we always use, but never hurts to have an extra set of eyes.

You can’t see a kid directly behind your bumper.

Yeah I get it, but checking behind my car and looking around for kids always worked. Yeah I know, things can change in 5 seconds. Okay, what about seat warmers? Why do we even need them? Just a fluff.  Do car mfrs. have to recall cars if there's a problem with them?  Does a warning light appear on the dash for something that trivial and unnecessary?  Does it affect the computer? It shouldn't, but who knows these days.  I wish I had my 67 Mustang. No nonsense, I could do any repair on it myself, no engine or oil/maintenance required lights, no emission crap. My 1985 Ford had a fender-mounted control module (Standard ignition part # was LX203) that I had to change once or twice in 15 years and that was it!  No computer analysis was needed.  If the car didn't start it was the coil, module or fuel pump.  All easily replaced. Oh well.

Just a couple of days ago, in a neighboring suburb, a 5 year old boy was kit & killed in his driveway, by a family member. Details are very limited, but I sure hope it wasn't by a vehicle involved in this recall.
