Ford Recall Disaster

Recommended Posts

This is a concerted effort by Ford to find and fix as many issues as possible.  Almost all of these are past offenses.  It speaks badly about the last decade of production but it should help a lot going forward.  I wouldn’t be concerned unless the 2025+ vehicles start getting big recalls (not little ones that only affect a few thousand vehicles - those mean the process is working.).

You can't really say that. Problems take time to show up. Sometimes years.

I'm still waiting for the fuel pump fix...hopefully they'll have the seat thing taken care of also soon so I can get both taken care of lol

oh yeah, i don't think i've had that one done either.  I don't think they have parts for it yet.

So I have the fuel pump and now the seat one still to do.

I said 2025+ meaning future models too.  The fact that warranty costs are down significantly plus all of the recent problems identified very quickly only affecting a few thousand units say they’re headed in the right direction.  Of course it doesn’t guarantee future success but this is how process changes work.   That is not negated by finding new problems that occurred before the process changes were put in.

Doe. Launched her about 30 ft and she somehow still managed to run off. $6400 in damage.

Deer are the living embodiment of “if you’re gonna be stupid, you’d better be tough.”

Years ago, I was driving down a rural road when a buck started running parallel to me. I knew enough about them to suspect that it was going to dart out in front of me, so I let off the gas and got ready to brake. Sure as God made little green apples, it made what looked like a 90-degree turn at speed and shot across the road just feet from my front bumper.

A few years before that, a friend was driving her Del Sol not far from there when a buck shot out in front of her. The speed limit there was 50, so she was probably doing around that when they met, ruining the hood and the driver-side headlight and fender. The buck went up and over the car, but by the time she got the car stopped and had a chance to look around, that sucker was long gone.

I once saw a guy get hit by a car on the freeway. It was headline news that day because of the circumstances. MSP investigation determined it was intentional. That image of him flying through the air will forever be burned into my memory.

I had a good friend from high school who lived in California.  She had a law degree from Harvard and was starting a new job.  12 years ago she drove up to a railroad crossing, got out and walked right in front of the train.  To this day nobody knows why she did it or saw any warning signs.  Bizarre and very tragic.

The worst deer related accident I saw was about 10-15 years ago-was going down a side road with two of my friends-I was in the passenger seat-a deer ran out hit a car and pinballed off it into another car and then ran off, I'm guessing it died right after the shock wore off.

This happened probably 30-35 years ago in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. A sedan with four women were traveling someplace near Marquette when they hit a deer.  The deer went through the front windshield, killing the gal riding shotgun, kept on going into the back seat area killing another lady, and exited out the back window.  I didn't know any of the women killed, but vaguely knew some of the other family members.  I always think of that whenever I see deer near a highway.

They added a train down here called the Brightline a few years ago, and it killed someone the first day it opened.  There's always a story in the news about someone getting killed by the brightline, and while a lot of them are just morons being on the tracks when the train is coming, they're saying a lot of them are intentional - people just walking out in front of it.  I also heard on the radio from a former conductor who had said he'd personally been at the controls for at least 12 people, and has PTSD from seeing that and resigned.

Stay off the tracks people!

From the impact of the deer flying through, or was it like ...(I think it was) Tommy Boy where it got in the car, went nuts and then flew out?  Either way that's crazy.  Can't even imagine the mental toll on the ones that survived.

Gotta love the Brightline, it really shows how "Not BRIGHT" the FL population is.  I think they are at 182 last time I  checked.  Waiting to see a Youtube channel or Tiktok pop up just dedicated to that. We even had a Firetruck stop on the tracks and get hit (Wonder if the firefighter still has his job)...
